Arabel
Arabel— city of crossroads. Above the central lakes of Cormyr, Arabel is the closest major city to the Anauroch wastes, and has borne the brunt of most of it’s incursion into the land of the living. While Marsember and the lake country is green, with sporadic forests, marshlands and rivers— Arabel in the north is more arid, similar to the dusty plains south of Proskur and indeed the ever creeping deserts of Anauroch. It is the smallest and least established of the city states. Power changes hands quickly and often in a city that is little more than a staging post for nomad, roughriders and tough traders. Arabel is constantly on a knife edge, living so close to Anauroch nothing can be certain. The people are sturdy, well versed in violence and deeply suspicious of everyone— they have reason to be.
