Marsember

The best known and most powerful of the former Cormyrian states. Marsember is bustling, hustling and full to the brim with traders sprucing their wares. Known to the rest of Faerun as the city of spice, many strange and wonderful things come from or through Marsember. It holds prime position on the Sea of Dragons, exploiting trade routes by land and sea. The city itself is a canal city, the buildings are ornate and multitudinous— the result of centuries of prosperity and a powerful society of magic users (Jincarna ) who have protected and, at times, guided the political arms of Marsember. The mouth of the river curls past Marsember and every year the killing of the great dragon turtle which once guarded it is celebrated in style. The city is libertarian in nature, for the most part business dictates law. Almost all civilians are members of some kind of union, league, guild, consortium, alliance or other organisation. The leaders of which are constantly vying for power in the cities parliament- The Battican .

Government

Marsember is run by a parliament of guild leaders called "The Battican". Policy is a case of constant negotiation and agreements between leaders decide the finer details of life on the streets. The Battican  is watched over by the Jincarna , a social caste of powerful magic users who live in the isolated Mages Quarter of Marsember.

Guilds and Factions

Jincarna , Immino Nori And hundreds of other powerful guilds, leagues and unions. Most notably Wayfarers Guild , Quartermasters Union  and the Cargo & Passage Consortium - the three largest and most influential guilds in the Battican.
