Storylistener

Qualifications

There are no official qualifications needed to become a Storylistener, but in order to rise to that position they have to prove themselves as a Storylearner. The Storykeeper must be satisified with their ability to learn stories and trust that they understand the responsibility of the new position.

Appointment

There is no official ceremony, but the appointment of someone to the position of Storylistener is normally accompanied by an opportunity for the new Storylistener to demonstrate the stories they have learned to the rest of their community. This is usually a gathering of people during which they recite several of their favourite stories.

Duties

The dutie of the Storylistener is to spend time out in the community, talking to people and more importantly listening and observing what happens around them. Some may focus on the people of their community, others on the creatures and nature from which they might draw analogies.    They regularly check in with the Storykeeper and show the progress they are making. They will also ask for advice, pass on any new stories and start to craft their own stories.

Responsibilities

The Storylistener is responsible for listening to other people and using what they learn to craft new stories. They watch and take inspiration from what is going on around them. They may pass on new stories to the Storyteller or the Storykeeper.
