Storyteller Bracelet

"I see the beads that these local storytellers wear and the way they treasure them and I wonder if they aren't on to something. They carry them like they are their most cherished possession.   Each one I have seen is unique and not all are beautiful, but every one is worn with such pride that you could be forgiven for thinking otherwise. I somewhat envy them that."
— From a letter by Bukahnah Travelling Vault

Manufacturing process

The manufacture process is part of the Exchanging Words ceremony. Each bead is either threaded by the new Storyteller or by the member of the community who gives it to the Storyteller.

History

The Storyteller Bracelet was first seen in the South West of Vellikka and word of it spread through the Travelling Vaults from the Story Vault. They were not truly understood by the Travelling Vaults, but every group of Storytellers who heard the story liked it enough to pick up and use it themselves. It is now a fundemental part of Storyteller culture.

Significance

The significance of a Storyteller Bracelet is only truly understood by Storytellers. It is created as part of the Exchanging Words ritual, during which a Storylistener becomes a Storyteller.   Each member of a settlement places a bead on this bracelet and the Storyteller then wears it, as a reminder of the expectations and needs of each person within the community.

Rarity
Every Storyteller in Vellikka who works within a community or settlement wears a Storyteller Bracelet. Each one is created by the people of that community and because of that no two are the same.   This rarity does not lead to a monetary value, however. Their value is in what they represent to the Storytellers who wear them.
Raw materials & Components
The beads are created by the Light Grifters within a community, depending on the resources available to the locality of the settlement. The beads are selected by each member of the community prior to the Exchanging Words ceremony, taking time to choose the bead which they liked the best.   The string on which the beads are placed is also created by the Light Grifters for the settlement and the material used depends on what is available.

Yes, I love that. They have grown up with this community, listening to and learning their stories, but them telling them the one which is most important to them is a great addition!

So many worlds to choose from...
