The Nine Guarantees
The Nine Guarantees is the collective name for the list of nine indisputable rights as defined by the Constitution of the Didacian Consulate. While there have been multiple governments and forms of rule that have risen and fallen over the millennia, the Nine Guarantees have always been a part of their constitutions since the First Consulate in 3434. In the region they are held sacred as innate truths that ensure the protection of all individuals who are citizens of the realm. Many Guarantees have been added and removed across the ages, but the Nine have remained consistent.
The original document of the Guarantees survives to this day, written on the last known Didacy Ad Infinitum Scroll, which have the unique ability to infinitely scroll new blank paper and resist the weathering of time. As part of the swearing-in of all elected officials, every individual becomes a signatory to the Guarantees. The nature of the Ad Infinitum Scroll allows the document to serve as a definitive roll of every elected official in the history of organized governments of the region.
Consulate citizens find the fact that other nations and city-states do not have equivalents to the Guarantees as foreign and dangerous.
The Guarantees are as follows:
The First Guarantee: Will of the Individual The Second Guarantee: Will of the People The Third Guarantee: Non-Didacy Education The Fourth Guarantee: Basic Housing The Fifth Guarantee: Basic Healing The Sixth Guarantee: Religious Tolerance The Seventh Guarantee: Warforged Personhood and Social Welfare The Eighth Guarantee: Military Use for Defense Only The Ninth Guarantee: Trial by Peers
