Pugilis (PUDGE-ill-iss)
"Buckle, Bend, but Never Break"
Pugilis is a county within Crimea in the kingdom of Valla. It is a nation that is filled with Fighting-type Pokemon as well as renown human fighters.
Pugilis's beliefs and culture stem from the ideas of physical strength and honor. More often than not, Pugilis's trials and diplomacy are rooted in duels, arena fights, and battle royales. During ancient times of war, Pugilis thrived in the conflict, with their physical strength being utilized on many fronts throughout Valla. During times of peace, however, the use of fighting is used to fill other niches, such as entertainment, Pokemon catching and training, and the occasional mercenary work to clear out bandits or deal with aggressive Pokemon.
While Pugilis was known for its physical strength during the war, they were not well known for their tactics -- the most powerful and renown tacticians of Valla's past came from Illusio. In fact, many of Pugilis believe that tactics involving cunning and intrigue to be underhanded and dishonorable. Because of this, historical analysts believe it is unlikely that Pugilis would ever rebel and become power-hungry during times of peace.
With the Fighting-type nation also being heavily focused on physical strength, many find themselves working in construction, mining, and other heavy-lifting jobs. One of the most notable trade deals between Valla and Nohr is between Pugilis and Cragspur, with Pugilis sending over miners over to Cragspur in return for a cut of the resources mined. The Trade agreement is called the Lithothrafstis Trade Agreement.
