Dawn Empire
The glorious Dawn Empire is the largest empire to exist since the fracturing and fall of the
Perisian Empire. Due to it's size, our great army has resources and manpower none can hope to match. When looking purely in terms of numbers, our nations population and resources far outstrips what little wealth and population the arid deserts provide the
Hazfeni. Additionally, our mastery of artificer techno-magics has caused our civilization to be the the forefront of arcane technology. No empire can hope to match our skills in Golemancy, metallurgy, and alchemy. Our greatest defensive strengths lies in our walls and mountain holds; a squadron of determined dwarfs can protect against a tsunami of invaders. Offensively, great techno-magic siege works and our legions of Warforged are our greatest assets.
While our military operates as a well oiled machine, (as any civilized military would) one should be aware of its weaknesses to properly fight in Hazfen. Firstly we have a lack of offensive capabilities in Hazfen; a commander should be wary of straying from the natural protection caused by our mountains. The dunes of Hazfen are constantly churning in the wind like a wave in the sea. This makes the establishment of supply lines from the Dawn Mountains to the frontlines of an invasion difficult even in ideal situations. Secondly, while our empire is vast and populous place it has many foes besides the
Hazfen Empire. The savages of the
Foisham Jungles and
Snaleshi Swamps; the barbaric orcs and goblins of the Greentide Hills; the militaries of non-Hazfeni "civilized" lands such as
Memphia and
Graacia. This means that our empire must garrison a far larger front then anything the Hazfeni could ever manage. This means that an invasion cannot ever have the full backing of the military.
Hazfen Empire:
The
Hazfeni are the best organized, most populous and thus most dangerous threat to the empire. Unlike the Green Skins who are honest in their barbarity, the Hazfeni put on a veneer of civility over their barbarism. Commanders should be aware that they practice the same dangerous magics which likely summoned the
Thánatos and that their society revolves around a class of individuals known as the
Burgeonend; fake gods with power only because they oppress their citizenry into idol worship. An astute
Dwarf would be wise to observe that the practicing of these magic and worshipping of mortals as gods are the vary principles that our empire was founded to oppose.
The Hazfeni are unfamiliar with the concepts of manliness, bravery or honor. As such they will use their aforementioned maneuverability to concentrate their forces and dishonorably target supply caravans instead of our soldiers; stopping the flow of vital material to our siege engineers and warriors. If engaged in any serious manner the Hazfeni will withdraw and demonstrate their lack of bravery. This is their primary method of waging warfare when engaging with our forces. Knowing all this a commander can assume the Hazfen will attempt to scource the earth and then defeat our forces in detail.
Strategy To Employ: Defensive and Offensive
Offensive:
When invading
Hazfen, one should be most cautious about supply lines. The
Hazfeni have a propensity to use scorched earth tactics to deny the acquisition of materials on campaign and most of their
Burgeonend seem to target our supply caravans. (I suspect that their so called
"Synod of Wisdom" schemed up this idea. The dishonor of targeting supply lines would match with the profession.)prioritized but are not critical
cleanse PotestatemBurgeonend. Only once these entities are all killed will Hazfen fall.
Defense:
Defending
the Dawn Mountain Range from the
Hazfeni is a simply matter. A Dwarf needs only withdraw into their mountain holds and wait until the
Burgeonend get bored and leave. In the case of a major attack by the barbarians, forces should withdraw into the heart of the
Dwarval forcing the enemy to fight for every inch of rock. The Hazfen troops will get lost in the maze of tunnels that is our homeland. Once they are overstretched a simply decisive battle can quickly end any invasion forces dream of taking the jewel of the the world, the
Thousand Spires of Bunulbilg. In short I recommend a defense in depth cumulating in a decisive battle against their main force once it has been worn down.
