OttC Session 7: Accusations and Abductions
General Summary
RP Roundup
- A concerned citizen reports that Aerwynn is acting suspiciously at The Animal Inside tavern. Cyrci and Krisi confront him, and he makes a scene. He is eventually chased out and then followed to an abandoned building where he explains he was investigating somebody he thought was involved in the murder of his parents.
- Yona is interviewed by Pixo regarding her opinions on how to handle Moon Plague. Zgathor Scalescribe later joins in. Debate gets heated and Zgathor Scalescribe stabs the desk. Pixo does not take this kindly.
- Nethis Rastrin approaches Zgathor Scalescribe again regarding Skrata and the two strike a deal. Nethis Rastrin trades a few books for a single bottle.
- Zgathor Scalescribe purposefully over-forages the materials he uses to make Skrata in the hopes of making it more difficult for Nethis Rastrin and their associates to produce it
- Zgathor Scalescribe asks Yona to help tranlsate the primordial tome, however the writing appears to be insane, highly disorganized, and obfuscated:
[it's big, maybe a couple hundred pages. It is immediately obvious once you start reading that the author was not in their right mind... it rambles incoherently about an argument between several people, but doesn't even name any of them. It just says weird titles like "the green one" or "tin can" or "that bastard". The argument seems to focus around some artifact or other, but only ever calls it "It", with a capital I.] [skimming through, further entries are done in entirely different handwriting, but all seem similarly incoherent. Towards the end it even starts skipping words, making it nigh-impossible to read in any meaningful way]
Live Session
- Krisi talks to Pixo and gives his take on Zgathor Scalescribe's ward proposal. He would prefer not to allow uninfected citizens (outside of the window) into the wards for any reason
- As a temporary measure, the infected are allowed to roam the city under active Window escorts
- Pixo asks Krisi to follow up with Zgathor Scalescribe regarding the outburst in his office
- The party collects their pay
- Zgathor Scalescribe and Cyrci go to see Nethis Rastrin and ask for leads about the origins of the primordial 'diary'. They agree to chase down some leads but if information is found it will cost something.
- Nethis Rastrin takes the opportunity to ask Cyrci about Yona
- The party responds to a robbery at the Vigrid Embassy. Edward DuThane suffered some stab wounds to the kidney, but has already recovered thanks to the vampirism. The party is concerned that this unusual taste may be a sign of Moon Plague.
- He reports the attacker appeared human, but her blood tasted unusual - something fey, that he has not quite tasted before.
- Investigation uncovers some bits of red fur and an owlbear feather left behind at the scene of the crime.
- Edward DuThane is brought to Pixo to report the incident. Pixo recognizes the crystal that was given to Edward DuThane, because he has seen Jane with something similar before.
- using 'locate object' on the fur, Zgathor Scalescribe locates a red-furred kitsune window browsing the market district. She is promptly brought in for questioning
Interrogation
- The woman in question is Tsukiko, but she only ever calls herself "Red" during investigation. Zgathor Scalescribe hears another alias from her head: "The Viper"
- She claims she is "very good at what she does", is "the right hand to a goddess whose name you have not heard of and [she is] frankly not allowed to share"
- She claims to have only been in the city for five hours or so, but refuses to disclose how she arrived
- Her organization, Ouroboros, does "a lot of things", most notably stealing from the wealthy and giving to the poor... sometimes including themselves
- Yona fetches Jane to have her watch it from the outside
- When asked about a member of Ouroboros poking around The Window, Tsukiko reverses the interrogation. She claims not to know anything about it, and demands details
- She denies any involvement with either Bhaal or Tiamat
- She wears two amulets - an Ouroboros Pendant and a Badge of the Wayfarer
- Zgathor Scalescribe
- Zgathor Scalescribe discloses the basic outline of why they are investigating Ouroboros. Tsukiko claims her people are uninvolved, and being framed.
- Yona, watching Jane and Pixo from the back room, invokes her conduit on Pixo
Show Spoiler
If there is a spy here I must find them and have them slain or arrested
- Yona convinces Jane to enter the room to assist in the interrogation. As soon as both are in the same room, the kitsune dives for Jane's throat.
- Cyrci catches the kitsune mid-leap. She is startled, asks Cyrci if she is looking for a new job, makes a bit of small talk... and then attacks again.
- Tsukiko conjures magical daggers, throws one at Jane, teleports to it, grabs her, and teleports away.
- Both Cyrci and Yona grab at Red as this is happening, and wind up getting teleported as well.
The Astral Sea
Show Spoiler- As soon as the four arrive at The Wandering Tavern, Jane and Tsukiko are fighting each other. Simolio is also present
- Cyrci attempts to break them up with thorn whip, but fails.
- Cyrci and Yona simultaneously cast thunderclap and manage to force the two apart
- Tsukiko accuses Jane of being a traitor. Supposedly, Jane was working alongside Izar when he made his plea to the entire multiverse
- Tsukiko claims that Jane would destroy Sigil if left unchecked. She does not want Jane to return to the city, and so she will not permit such to happen. Tsukiko promises to conduct a "thorough interrogation" and return Jane if she turns out to be wrong.
- Tsukiko tells the two players that they have a choice - either attempt to fight her off, or walk away and be sent back home. They reluctantly agree to leave Jane behind, and are taken back to the city through a portal in Simolio's Secret Pastry Shop
Returning home
- Cyrci and Yona return to The Window without Jane. They recap the above events for the others and then the session comes to an end.
