OttD session 16: You Must Gather Your Party Before Venturing Forth

General Summary

The session begins with the players scattered across multiple planes of existence. We begin with Tornac, who awakens in Penguin's basement to find his slaves painting something. One of the slaves fetches Ophelia, who informs Tornac that he was attacked by a dwarven woman resembling his wife and sends him back to Sigil. He drops out of the sky, spots the pillar of smoking coming from Temple of the Four Winds, and promptly walks in the opposite direction.   He quickly runs into the new player, Adoven Woodsoul, and, as is tradition, threatens to murder him. Adoven Woodsoul proceeds to flee, and investigates the smoke. He sees the Temple of the Four Winds completely destroyed, dozens of corpses in the streets, and intimidating men guarding the Church of the Broken Wing across the street. He decides to observe the area for a few hours.   Pestle, inside of said church, is pacing. He notices Adoven Woodsoul, but does not act on that information.   Back at The Window, Vun Roade wakes up in the infirmary being tended to by Mama Bear. She fills him in a little on what he missed, and he departs. Zerrof, also just waking up, attempts and fails to awaken Thulmir before leaving to return to the church.   Tornac, having realized that all of the bars are back the other way, turns around and sees the wreckage. He also spots Adoven Woodsoul, and throws a rock at him. This sends him fleeing back towards The Window. He passes by Zerrof and Vun Roade, but neither are able to stop him. He gets to a safe distance and proceeds to hide.   While those at the church argue about what to do with the gold and spear from Session 15: The death of a demigod, Thulmir awakens and rejoins the group. Arguing continues for some time, but Pestle eventually agrees to sell the spear to Tornac. Zerrof is deeply disturbed by this decision, and gets Vun Roade to help him gather materials from the ruins. Between the two of them, they get a sizeable stash of materials.   While the crafting and arguing continues, Penguin spots Adoven Woodsoul lurking in the shadows and sneaks up on him. Flustered introductions are made, at which point Penguin takes him down to the rest of the party to make proper introductions. Backstories are exchanged, and further debate is had for the gold. Penguin buys one of the slabs for 5000 gold, and then offers to act as a middleman to find someone who will transport and/or purchase the rest. Meanwhile, Zerrof finishes forging his ceremonial war armor, forming it directly around his person.   After all of this is done, Penguin finally gets to the matter he had originally came to discuss. He informs the party that Istus has put all of them (except Adoven Woodsoul) on a list of people whose decisions can shape the future. This is good news, because it means they are important, but it also means they are targets. Penguin warns them to stick together and be wary of attackers. He also informs both Pestle and Vun Roade that their debts have been repaid, but the marks remain as they would take "drastic measures" to remove.   Finally, while Zerrof begins some sort of ritual involving platinum coins, the rest of the party proceeds to go shopping at Warehouse 19.   Vun Roade contemplates multiple options, but finds they are beyond his price range   Pestle gets a headband of intellect and a +1 shield   Thulmir gets boots of elvenkind   Adoven Woodsoul purchases a cape of billowing.
