OttD Session 2: A tale of three hands
General Summary
Tornac spent the night before murdering Ophelia. (See The adventure begins).
Zerrof, Pestle, and Mama Bear all arrive in Polaris. The rest of The Assorted Crusaders are already there, as are Tornac and Vun Roade.
Mama Bear, Pestle, and Zerrof have a few drinks at a tavern called "the Drunken Mongoose". @Penguin arrives shortly after to give Mama Bear her stuff and send her off to help Zorkul Clalthicul guard Sconce. Penguin himself remains to chat with the party.
While the others are drinking, Tornac is getting into trouble at The church of Olidammara. He was arrested for his murder the night before, and escapes imprisonment by murdering the man who was guarding him. He slits the man's throat, carves a skull into the corpse's chest, and then leaves the room and goes drinking.
Penguin teleports himself to the funeral. Pestle and Zerrof begin to walk there.
Penguin arrives at the funeral by teleporting right next to Tornac. The two fool around a bit, but as soon as they are alone Penguin tackles Tornac to the ground and demands his cooperation in securing an alibi for the both of them. He tells Tornac to make sure people know where he is for the next hour.
Pestle and Zerrof arrive at the funeral. Tornac makes himself noticed by headbutting Pestle.
As they are talking, Pestle spots an elf attempting to sneak out of the bathroom, trailing blood behind him. The party loses track of the elf, but track the trail of blood back to the guardsman Tornac murdered. The elf took the guard's left hand from the scene and left behind the left hand of Ophelia.

The party finally finds Sconce, but he dodges all questions regarding his upcoming demise, then departs to investigate the murder himself. The party then explores the grounds a bit, first finding Penguin gambling in the church's casino. Tornac tries twice to beat him at poker, but instead finds himself 600g in debt. He still receives a deck of illusions as a "consolation prize". Pestle also tries his hand at it, in hopes of getting magic beans, but just lands himself 300g in debt as well./* Penguin murders another guard, making sure to follow Tornac's M.O. He does this both to give Tornac an alibi and as a sacrifice to resummon his wife Ophelia */
The party hears a scream, and discovers a second guardsman has been murdered. Tornac and Pestle were together, so Tornac has an alibi for this crime. The elven man is nowhere to be found, though. Tornac uses divine sense to sniff for evil creaturs. A few of the bystanders register, but none of them were elven. A raven in the window registered also,/* this was secretly Izzik */
but the party could not ascertain anything about it. Tornac also smelled an evil person a little ways down a nearby hallway, so the party went to investigate. The last remaining evil person turned out to be Ophelia, apparently back from the dead. She admits to knowing something about the crime, but says she "is not at liberty" to discuss it further. Tornac admits to having murdered her, but she seems entirely unconcerned. If anything, she seems to have taken the whole thing as a compliment. The two seem to hit it off. Returning to the crime scene, Pestle uses speak with plants to interrogate a nearby tree. The party learns the elven man left in the same direction they found Ophelia, but Tornac attacks the tree before it could reveal anything further. Tornac and Pestle fight over the tree for a bit while Zerrof watches, dumbfounded. Pestle eventually manages to rescue the tree, and replants it outside of the building. He instructs it to "act natural". Zorkul Clalthicul arrives on scene, and informs the party that the elven man they have been looking for was apprehended by Penguin, and was in possession of the second guardsman's severed hand. The party agrees to investigate.Rewards Granted
