OttD Session 3: A Bard's dying wish

General Summary

Vun Roade begins the session shopping for a "gargleblaster", which turns out not to exist. Just as he leaves the shop, he spots an elven man fleeing, holding a severed hand. He follows the trail of blood the elf left behind and meets the rest of The Player Characters. The fleeing elf is soon captured by Penguin, and brought back to the The church of Olidammara. The elven man appeared to be utterly insane, admitting to several murders and claiming to hear several voices in his head. Mama Bear is summoned to impose judgement, and at the behest of Tornac and Zerrof reluctantly decides to grant the elf leniency. She takes him off to a nearby courthouse for treatment instead of executing him. See A Tale of Three Hands for more background on these murders. After the noise settles down, Sconce asks the party to help fulfill his will. He says it will start off easy and become "very daunting". The first task is to hand out drinks and letters to nine different people, listed on Sconce's Booze Boon List. Tornac then has a private conversation with Sconce, and learns that his wife was murdered, liver removed from her body. Sconce says that he has reason to believe the culprit had traveled across dimensions, to the city of Sigil. He also returns Tornac's possessions, which he says Ophelia had "retrieved" from the local guard. They were covered in her fur, and the holy symbol showed signs of being licked repeatedly. The remainder of the session was spent delivering the items on Sconce's Booze Boon List. However, a few notable events did occur while the party was puzzling this out:

Tornac repays his debt to Penguin
Pestle repays part of his debt to Penguin, with help from Zerrof, who crafts a suit of chain mail armor and offers it to Penguin.
Vun Roade purchases a greataxe to replace his maul
Tornac opens his letter and gets a summation of his earlier conversation, and also a picture of Sconce's dead wife
Vun Roade opens his letter and finds a list of things to live for
The party discovers Penguin's familiar, Izzik, is actually an imp
Zerrof receives a sending stone which serves as a direct line to Penguin (or his lawyer, Izzik)
Tornac flirts repeatedly with Ophelia

Rewards Granted

Pestle: some debts repaid to Penguin Tornac: all debts repaid to Penguin, his possessions returned to him, and a bag of holding. Zerrof a sending stone that serves as a line of communication to Penguin and Izzik. Vun Roade Purchased a new greataxe
