DethCity1000
The Jewel in the crown of GigaCity19 based KillMedia's portfolio of sanctioned DethSports. A thousand mile slog through monochrome concrete prison city LBN, known as The Filth.
The 1000 mile circuit is algorithmically generated each cycle to keep pilots from learning the course and gaining an unfair advantage, although shortcuts, detours, and decoy routes are common. Despite variations in the route every time the event comes around, the 1000 usually traverses every sector of LBN land, from the ResIndustrial areas and The Taint, to the white collar areas and FED capital sector.
The route often even passes under the GigaCity BlastWalls and out in to The Marsh OutSide The Filth, leading to at least one racing team each cycle trying to escape the confines of LBN life mid-race.
Vehicles that participate in the DethCity1000 need to be equipped to handle the specific conditions of the DethCity LBN AKArena. They often sport heavy armour and deflective bodywork to fend off projectiles and explosives launched at them by the InMate crowds and other participants. Good lighting may be required during lights out periods and subterranean stretches of race track. Even the acrid atmosphere in some areas can pose a problem.
Racers in the 1000 are the only LBN vehicles with sanctioned lethal weaponry, they also have slightly better build quality and control systems, however pigments are still banned, with pilots adorning vehicles in high contrast monochrome patterns, as well as bold typography and numbers. As is common in the wider LBN population, blood is used as a pigment by InMates of a certain demeanour. Gore, fire, and energy weapons discharging are the only colours on show, this is enough to drive the spectators in to a wild frenzy of ColourLust. Participants must also carry enough fuel on board for the full 1000 mile run, any pitstops are almost certainly suicide. Throughout the 1000 mile length of the course, FED control cars dip in and out of proceedings, settling scores with particularly difficult InMate participants and generally disrupting the race for their own amusement. There are also weapons drones, turreted guard towers and vehicle traps throughout the circuit to contend with. Occasionally the race will pass through an active riot zone, ploughing through the surprised combatants, vague recollections of it being race day flickering across their minds as they sail through the air.
The 0-3 vehicles that cross the line first (or at all) are given lavish bundles of upgrades to adorn their racers, the lethal ones only activated at the start of the next cycle's DethCity1000 event.
