Personal history
Unmei was a girl, born of the Chiba, a clan known for their proficiency in seals and barriers. Although they were small in numbers, they were well accomplished scholars as well, with Unmei's ancestors being trusted advisors for kage and nobles alike in time's past. Being born into such a clan meant that Unmei was also expected to fall into the family business of studying and counselling others in times of need, especially with the wars that had waged in Tsuchigakure often.
Unmei became a dedicated scholar, loving nothing more than to study and learn about as much as she could. It was her love of knowledge that would ultimately get her into trouble with her very own village, as one day, she was discovered studying the forbidden arts by some of the shinobi who had suspected her recent activities, noticing her change of behavior in becoming less extroverted and acting strangely when talking with others about personal matters. Unknown to the villagers, Unmei had been long since began delving into such things, and had been discovered to have mastered a few different Kinjutsu techniques, herself. Feeling shamed by their own daughter, Unmei's parents shunned her, outcasting her from the village to repent for her supposed sins.
It would be some time after this that Unmei would meet a strange figure who seemed to share the same interest as herself in the dark arts and knowledge itself. Although his methods would not always justify the means, Unmei didn't seem to mind in aiding Ryochi in his research, even when things turned less than bearable for the likes of his other two disciples.
With her continued dedication to serve Lord Ryochi, Unmei had earned his respect quickly, entrusting her with enclosing and hiding off any of the locations in which they would rest or stop between travels. Unmei has never dared to question Ryochi and entirely trusts him with her life, wanting to do nothing more than live a life of continually seeking out knowledge and protecting Otogakure for as long as she gets to live out that dream alongside her master and comrades.
