Powderkeg Crane Island

The exact location of the island is only known to Soliairs Taeyang, Benjamen Stridde, and the Crane God's Cult. It is used by Soliairs and their crew as a munitions depot, storing many of their fleet's weaponry, food rations, and as safe harbor for their refugees and injured crew. The island also functions as a sanctuary and nesting ground for many species of migratory cranes.   Areas of habitation across the island are largely hidden by the forests, as Soliairs has forbidden building higher than the treeline. To outside observers, the island appears to be completely uninhabited. Over the years, the crane god has increased security around the island through many camera systems mounted on the trees themselves, often obscured by their branches. Many points on the island have also had weapons systems installed, such as tree stands with automatic rifles, which are generally manned around the clock. There are also various alarms, sensors, and non-lethal deterrents around the island, mainly to alert the cult of intruders. Tripping these sensors can result in blinding lights, blaring alarms, and extremely high-pitched sound weaponry being triggered, to disorient and confuse intruders.   It is believed that the island is the primary location in which the Cult of Soliairs modifies and retrofits the majority of their fleet as well as store ships not in use, likely obscuring the ships by use of illusions or docking them in flooded caves.

Geography

The island is small and surrounded by large boulders, rocks, and shoals. Many of the massive boulders surrounding the island were placed there artificially, to make the island appear too dangerous and too shallow for most ships to attempt docking at. Only those within Soliairs' circle are aware of the specific passages for ships in order to reach the island safely without running aground, and only at certain times according to the tides. Some of the shoals have small boats and vessels deliberately run aground on them or destroyed, as further warning to sailors of the danger.

Ecosystem

Powderkeg Crane Island is small, but covered in conifer forests. The massive trees are home to many species of birds and insects that often use them as roosts between migrations. Few other animals exist on the island, though its waters are home to many ocean fish, seals, porpoise, and occasionally whales.

Localized Phenomena

During low tides, the island is nearly impossible to reach by most ships due to its many shoals and the rocky terrain surrounding it. High tides obscure where most rocks are just below the surface of the water, due to high amounts of sedimentation in the water due to natural currents, making it impassible as then as well. Only during midpoints in the tides is the water clear enough and high enough for ships to safely pass, through strictly arranged passageways.
