Red Pineapple Corps

Structure

The Corps is primarily made up of volunteers from many walks of life that often assist the group in their efforts. Although the majority of their members are civilians, professional firefighters, medical personnel, and search and rescue are commonly employed by the group as well. Their structure is based on experience rather than solid rankings, with community leaders often heralding the group's progress and deployment.   During disasters, they adopt a more rigid structure and break off into teams depending on the situation, almost always with a professional in the field leading a team of 10-20 members at a time with 3-5 EMTs or doctors among them.   Despite being a non-profit group and mainly volunteers, all members are paid and compensated for their time spent working during disasters or deployment to other areas, with all meals, travel expenses, and medical care provided and paid for.

Culture

Based out of Shanai, the group is primarily composed of locals and observe most of Shanai's festivals and holidays. They hold monthly potlucks for members and their families where they can come together as a community, discuss their work, and bond as a group. These events are often held on the beach, though occasionally at Waterfall Lane for their end of the year celebration.

Public Agenda

The Red Pineapple Corps is in many ways Shanai's national guard and main disaster relief organization. The group, made almost entirely of volunteers native to the island or permanent residents, responds to the frequent earthquakes, tidal waves, tropical storms, and volcanic eruptions that rock the island nation that most tourists and thrill seekers are not prepared for. Their main goals are ensuring that any who visit the islands are prepared should disaster strike in the event of emergency, and education on responding to such disasters in the most safe and efficient manner possible.

Assets

The Pineapple Corps has many assets, most in the form of shelters and volunteers. One in 5 people on Shanai are a member of the Corps, and every building displaying the group's symbol, of which there are many hundreds of them, is one of their shelters or a safe house with supplies. Every shelter holds sleeping bags, gallons of filtered water, medical supplies, medicine, rations, and a myriad of supplies for ensuring the survival of a wide variety of natural disasters, particularly volcanic eruptions and tropical storms.

History

The Pineapple Corps became a true organization after several tropical storms rocked the Pacific and did widespread damage, leaving governmental services unprepared and stretched too thin to deal with another disaster, greatly frustrating both the locals and visitors alike when Mount Shanai had a minor eruption that caused much more damage than it needed, had proper measures been taken. Since their founding, the group has spent decades in education of both natural disasters, basic medical care, meteorology, and the preservation of the island's natural habitat. They are a constant force on Shanai, always recruiting more for the next eruption, storm, or earthquake.

Foreign Relations

While primarily based around the Republic of Shanai, the Pineapple Corps also may be deployed to neighboring islands outside of the nation in dire times when needed. This most often occurs when a storm or tidal wave has hit a neighboring nation and not affected Shanai in any capacity where their services are needed.

Education

All members are given a mandatory one year course in survivalist training and basic field medicine. The group also holds classes on environmentalism, volcanism, and weather systems, with courses specific to Shanai's environment and climate. They also hold public seminars on how to respond to natural disasters and educate the public on escape routes, the locations of shelters and safe houses, and emergency meeting locations.

Major Imports
The group is primarily funded by donations, as they are not officially part of Shanai's civil services. For every donation given, the group will give the donator from a selection of relatively cheap and common items, such as bracelets, necklaces, shirts, or bags. These help to fund the group, and also spread awareness. The Pineapple Corps also takes in supplies, such as bottled water, non-perishable foods, and medical supplies.
