The Calendar and Holidays

Seasons

Spring

Dimensio 3 - Sola 2 Spring for much of Terra is often still quite cold, but noted by the return of much more frequent precipitation, often as snow, rain, and sleet. Cold weather plants in northern and extreme southern regions may begin to see growth even in weather hovering around freezing, but the vast majority of temperate plants do not begin to grow in earnest until nearly the end of the season.

Summer

Sola 3 - Teros 2

Fall

Teros 2 - Putri 2

Winter

Putri 3 - Dimensio 2 The longest season by far, winter for the vast majority of Terra is much cooler than average, fairly dry, and characterized by the yearly spread of glaciers and sea ice. Extreme northern and southern regions on the coast are often inaccessible by sea due to icebergs and ice flows blocking the regions, and although most areas don't typically see severe storms or blizzards, snow drifts from encroaching glaciers can accumulate throughout the seasons. In much of the northern hemisphere, animals migrate south for winter and hunting communities can be hit hard by lack of food.

Major Holidays

The Festival of Elements

Considered outside the normal bounds of the year, the Festival of Elements celebrates the major gods and their own holidays. Each god presides over a major holiday aside from Fire and Wind, who share Veg, the middle of the week, but still operate their festivals during different times.   Festival of Death- Falls on the first day, Shi.   Festival of Water- Falls on the second day, Nag.   Festival of Fire- Falls on the third day, Veg, starting at sunrise.   Festival of Wind- Falls on the third day, Veg, starting at sundown.   Festival of Earth- Falls on the fourth day, Lap.   Festival of Life- Falls on the fifth day, Mor, and commonly equated with New Year's Eve.

Other Elemental Holidays

The major gods don't solely contain their festivals to the last month of the year, having other significant holidays during seasons or months they are commonly associated with.   Celebration of Shia   Celebration of Ryou   Midsummer Fire Festival- One of Fire God Vega's major holidays, the most important holiday in the Republic of Shanai, and considered by many to be shared by the Crane Goddess, Soliairs Taeyang.   Celebration of Mora

Divine Festivals and Holidays

Many gods, both major and minor, will often have festivals throughout the year dedicated to them.   Polecat's Feast   Frostweaver Harvest- A harvest following the first frosts of the year, celebrated by the Cult of Life.

Celestial Events

Not solely associated with the gods, celestial events are commonly celebrated to some degree. Primarily eclipses, solar phenomena, and meteor showers. Some gods may have more influences than others over these events due to their associations.

Lunar Events

Full Moons

The Full Moon is a celestial event commonly associated with Ferventi, God of Wolves, as a god of hunting. Hunting when the moon is full is easier at night, and so the wolf god is often given more offerings than normal on these days.   The full moon is also heavily associated with birth and growth, and so associated with Mora, The God of Life.   The God of Sea Turtles is heavily associated with the full moon, as sea turtles will only lay their eggs on one.

New Moons

The New Moon is when the major gods, Shia, Mora, Vega, Nagi, Lapi, and Ryou, gather at Limbo's Crossing to discuss the fate of the world, their duties, and plans for keeping balance. It is also when Minor Gods who are failing their duties are gathered and given a last chance to correct their failings, given until the next new moon to improve or else be replaced. Gods who fail to do so are killed and their essence is taken to empower their heir, or to create Goddesses as a last ditch attempt at straightening out divine affairs.

Other Celebrations

Dance of Blood   All Cook's Day- A celebration of cooks and chefs.   Batterion Feast- A draconic holiday feast.
