Eshti
Eshti is the primary language of the Eshtem. Like its people, it is actually the result of a confluence of languages of the people of Utanar who met at the hub of trade that was Eshkar and the other city-states that spawned from it along the southwestern coast. It was a trade tongue of Utanar, a lingua franca that easily incorporated new words and phrases. It still does so in Torvalen, adding and adapting many words from the Calmaxtec languages and other languages abroad, including the word @Kalmasa itself, an adaptation of Calmaxtlan.
The language has begun to split in the past two centuries. The Eshti of the commoners, traders and foreigners has become significantly different than that of the nobles and powerful Eshtem of Kalmasa. It has adapted more of the Calmaxtec languages’ words and language characteristics, in addition to words borrowed from the Jolnir and even the excultid peoples. This language is now commonly called Kalmasi.
