Sliisk

The Sliisk slither through the annals of Seerth's history as beings of power, mystery, and survival. Created by the Kui-Yuk elves for purposes obscured by time, the Sliisk transcended their intended roles, cultivating a civilization shrouded in secrecy and sorcery.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Resembling the serpents from which they draw their lineage, the Sliisk possess elongated, sinuous bodies with humanoid upper torsos. Their scales shimmer with an ethereal luster, reflecting their affinity with the arcane. Eyes glowing with eldritch energy, they move with a grace that belies their formidable power. While experimenting with dark magics, the Sliisk have been able to adapt their envoys appearances to any design. This makes them the perfect spies or assassins.

Biological Traits

The Sliisk's biology is a marvel of arcane engineering, allowing them to harness magical energies directly from their environment. Their scales provide natural protection against physical and magical threats, and their serpentine forms allow for swift movement in their preferred terrains. Those who have undergone changes to adapt to blending in with other civilisations, eventually lose this ability over time.

Genetics and Reproduction

Sliisk reproduce through a mystical process that involves the conjuring of their offspring's essence from pools of concentrated magical energy, then forming a clutch of eggs. This arcane reproduction ensures that each Sliisk is born with inherent magical abilities, which are honed from a young age. Over time, the secrets of this practice have slowly withered, along with the Sliisk numbers.

Growth Rate & Stages

From their conjuring to hataching, to full maturity, Sliisk undergo several stages of growth, each marked by an increase in their magical prowess. They reach full maturity by the age of 50, with their lifespans often extending beyond 500 years, during which their power continually grows. More often than not, only the most secret of enclaves have members of this age.

Ecology and Habitats

Preferring the dark, secluded environments that mirror their secretive nature, the Sliisk dwell in ancient ruins and temples hidden within dense jungles or beneath the earth. These sanctuaries are both homes and arcane laboratories, where the Sliisk delve into the mysteries of the cosmos.

Dietary Needs and Habits

The Sliisk sustain themselves on a diet that is as unique as their being, drawing sustenance from the magical energies that pervade Seerth. They are known to consume potions and elixirs that enhance their magical abilities and longevity. In times of desperate needs, the meat and blood of sacrificial victims can suffice.

Shrouded in mystery, the Sliisk are a reclusive and calculating race. They prioritize the acquisition of knowledge and magical power above all, viewing other beings through the lens of utility or threat to their secretive existence.
