Summerkin - Small Folk

The origin of the small folk is a hotly contested subject among scholars and historians in Sildair. Though usually not considered among the First Races, when they were created, and exactly by whom, is a truth lost to the mists of time. Almost all small folk cultures deeply revere Rhya whom they call The All-Mother, a monicor unique to their cultures, and some historians call them Summerkin, to reflect this fact. Most small folk do not care much more about their origins, beyond their reverence for the All-Mother, and some of her children, especially Meluana. There are a great variety of Small Folk cultures, but most scholars agree that they are one species, even if their exact origins are unknown. The Small Folk who live in and around Duurheim are usually called gnomes, and culturally they are remarkably different from the halflings of Greypine forest in northern Sarkara.

Basic Information

Biological Traits

Small Folk are, unsurprisingly, very small, usually appearing as children of the other races when seen from a distance. They have pointy ears, and their heads are of slightly larger proportions to their body, compared to humans, but other than that, they mostly just look like very small adult humans. They vary in skin and hair colour as much as humans, and they can grow facial hair, though rarely as thick as humans and dwarves. They mature physically at around age 20, and their natural lifespan is between 80 and 120 years.
