Principality of Durlia

Honour and Allegiance

Durlia is a principality built on a controversial royal family, with its founders being the daughters of the old King of Monter who absconded their thrones to found the nation. Because of this the families who stayed to live in Durlia and those that came to live in the country did so out of their love and loyalty to the throne. Now, status means all. The country lives for their crown and the crown distributes goods and services down the ranks.
This is most clear within the capital, Draxtedge, where the city is split with great ringed walls that emanate from the central palace. The further out from the central palace's ring you find yourself, the less association families have with the throne. The closer circles are full of respected families, emissaries, and those in close business with the royal bloodline.
  Living in Durlia is all about favour and who you know. Being on good terms with the right people is essential to simply living your life. Choosing not to participate in society leaves your status and position to be easily taken by others, living in an inner circle in the capital is a constant social trudge through two-faced promises and political sacrifices for self-gain. In the smaller towns disrespecting the social hierarchy of the town can lead to social ostracism or potentially holding-cell time.

United Under the Crown. United Under Durlia.

A civilisation built on selfishness would fall to dystopia faster than a shooting star's appearance and disappearance in the night sky. Durlia succeeds in its inherent selfishness by having its population all understand one guiding principle.
Durlia stands strong together;
Allegiance to the Crown is of a higher importance then life;
When everyone dedicates themselves to the Crown,
Durlia's enemies can never harm them.
Durlia is a controversial nation. Both the Kingdom of Midgering and Kingdom of Anvika hold strong distaste for the nation, with the threat of war with Anvika on the edge of a knife. Alongside this, the Roglian Empire are seen as a warmongering nation due to their history under the banner of the Holson Union during the Royal Cleansing.
Durlia has no strong Ally and so, even the gutter rats of Draxtedge are seen as having a higher status than any foreigner, especially from any neighbouring nation. Durlians, with all thier backstabbing of each other, are the quickest to unite against foreign interference in their culture.
