Arcadia

Arcadia is a unique system for many reasons, being a binary star system, with over four habital worlds, this system is one of the most populated in the Terminus Systems. It is currently in the throes of a proxy war, a proving ground for the three major powers of the galaxy.   For years, the planet has seen an insurgency by not only Arcadian nationalists funded by the Secret Service, but also the Ungratefuls.   The Arcadian system is home to four warring factions that have taken up arms to control the hotly contested star system:   The Arcadian Commonwealth was the existing prior government, and a constitutional republic. It was a flawed and corrupt government, mostly propped up by the Solar Guild of the Federation. After years of fighting and the splitting of the Arcadian Armed forces by the Monarcists, they are now almost entirely reliant on Musuran aid, munitions, and even now physical boots on the ground. They control the most territory, and Arcadia Prime itself.   The Nationalists are a radical right-wing military uprising propped up by the imperial security services. They wish to reinstate the monarchy that existed centuries ago, prior to the silence under the provisional government under the greater Imperial apparatus. A majority of this faction staged an attempted military coup in 239. When their coup failed, and their forces routed by Musuran reinforcements, the Nationalists fled to their base on Lyon. A secondary faction of nationalists are arising, more right-wing and extremist under the banner of the Covenant of Man.   The Ungratefuls have been active in Arcadia for decades, however they lack the physical presensce of the nationalists and the Commonwealth. Instead, they have mostly resorted to a secret war, terrorism and sabotage. They are stuck in the middle between two forces that despise them more than each other, and have resorted to producing and smuggling narcotics like Spice to fund their operations. The greatest concentration of forces is on Kopal, where they are able to make regular efforts to smuggle goods in and out of the system around the gate.     Finally, the Cult of Chronos has found footing in Arcadia in all of the chaos. Their forces have been using the insurgency as a means to not only build up arms, but train fighters to deploy further out into the Terminus Systems and Pacifica. Attacks on Tu'Kor, Voretz and even Felucia Secundus have been traced back to cultists who got their training somehwere in Arcadia. It is rumored that their funding comes from sympathetic and politically motivated oligarchs both within the Baronies and the Federation, who both see the Cult as a viable destabalization tool to prevent the takeover of Imperial Forces.
