GR 18: Gate of Auvorené

The story of GR 14: The Fallen Sword was picked up at the tower of Al-Galdeath, with Damiar Guthane, Piriath and Melrith. Melrith was leading a wolf-hunting dog he had found and ‘trained’ (actually Shoam in disguise). Shoam’s companion, Eshia, was also following, invisibly. Upon discovering the fallen sword of Ukkasen, the party had an epiphany of the Messenger Genneanne  Moving north, pursued by three Uruk travelers, the party passed through the ancient ruins of Tarkesh, battling the Grimlock undead that dwell there. Making peace with the Uruks, the party traveled with them, all the while feeling pursued by a more sinister force. The party slowly learned from visions and clues that they were following the footsteps of an ancient Fae Lord, Celleth Earanil, to the Gate of Auvorené at the fortress of Toblack.    As they neared Karshan lands, the party was betrayed by Zautzagre (Stable Boy), who turned out to be a Karshan spy working for a Galdean Darkmaster. Encountering some Ostwien tribesmen, and a Great Elder Traüll, the party eventually reached the Karshan city of Driegzar, where their mission was saved from disaster by the Thrau spy Tarect, who had been posing as a city noblewoman. The party later boarded the ship Redstar, captained by the lizard-man Pholerus. On the journey to Toblack, they encountered the ghost ship Trivec. Making landfall at the site of one of the ancient Temples of the Sky and the “Right Hand” began the migration of the Kainen back to Aishelon. The final goal of the campaign was understood to have eventually been completed, but this did not happen in actual game time.   MEMORABLE MOMENTS: Some great scenes included: Shoam’s mid-air transformation from bird to wolf, as he leaped to attack a shadow-demon spy, and Damiar’s last ditch jump on his horse Adakai across a crumbling span of bridge. The campaign also saw the notorious scuffle where a couple of young boys nearly killed the wounded and hiding Damiar in a cellar in the town of Driegzar.
