Charchar's parents could not take care of her for mysterious reasons, so she was adopted into the Katon family household, and she quickly grew close to Muddy.
Nicknames & Petnames
When Muddy was little, he tripped and fell into a puddle of mud, and Charchar, mocking him, called him "Muddy". The name stuck. Later that week, Charchar was practicing her fire powers and accidentally burned herself. Muddy got his revenge by mockingly calling her "Charchar". That name stuck as well.

Bluey and Muddy's parents are best friends, so naturally it was not long before they met. They too became best friends.
Nicknames & Petnames
Upon learning that Muddy and Charchar had given each other nicknames, Bluey too wanted a nickname. Muddy thought for a few seconds before naming him Bluey, after the blue slushy he was drinking at the time. Bluey loved it. The fact that Bluey's fur happens to be blue is a complete coincidence.
