Legatus Legionis
The commander of a full Estinian legion is a Legatus Legionis. In most cases, this is a person of senatorial rank, though rarely professional military officers can climb this high, if they catch the eye of the Emperos.
History
In the days of the Itarosan Republic, a Legatus Legionus was often also the proconsul of a provinceː Once the legions became professionalized the political proconsuls appointed Legatae Legionae. After Emperos Dorus, a Legatus Legionus was always appointed by the Emperos, a practice carried over to the Estinian legions.
