Suns
The Suns are seven heavenly bodies that generate light and heat for the surface of the world.
Following the casting of the Ultimate Spell at the climax of the War of the Ancients the Umbral Cloak was diminished making the Suns parch the World Disk near constantly leading to the disappearance of most bodies of water and an essential apocalypse as societies collapsed and most races attempted to escape the Bright in what is remembered as the Great Exodus.
Though nobody in the Sunless Depths knows this the Seven Suns are mythologized greatly in the cultures of the people that dwell in the Scorched Lands.
Mythology across the Realms depicts the suns as a pack of hunting animals, often jackals, coyotes, wild hunting dogs or hyenas.
The Elven god Sah-Sahelioran, Emperor of Sunlight is often depicted as commanding his loyal pack of hunting beasts from his war chariot.
Each of the suns has a common name and personality associated with it.
They are
Unbeknownst to the followers of the Sunlight Emperor and the few others who are able to subsist in the superheated wasteland that the War of the Ancients left behind there is another sun, or at least there was.
Shaelyon, now known as the Shade-Sun was once among the hunting pack of Sah-Sahelioran but they rebelled when they recognized the destructive potential of the Emperor’s ambition.. they were right but too late, the Umbral Cloak was torn to shreds and Shaelyon was only able to preserve a faint sliver of it.
Now Shaelyon the Shade-Sun sits atop the seething skies for fleeting hours nightly holding what remains of shade enabling at least a meager amount of rest from heat to the living beings of the world.
