Gardens District
The Gardens District is home to Bloodstone's richest and most affluent citizens. Aristocrats, guild masters, and anyone rich enough to afford such a lifestyle dwell in the grandiose villas and mansions that line this district’s streets, which also house the small armies of support staff each villa requires to maintain its decadence and splendor. Shops, taverns, and the like are relatively rare here, with those that do exist typically catering to small clienteles—practically secret societies, these establishments generally do not open their doors to non-members.
Most residents dress elaborately; those in standard adventurer’s gear, for example, are likely to draw attention from the guards and other residents. The streets are clean, the houses magnificent, the people well-behaved.
The streets of Gardens District are kept quite clean—even the alleyways here are relatively free of vagrants and accumulated trash. Stone blocks pave all major streets, with bricks and cobblestone more common in alleyways and side streets. The majority of the buildings here are made of stone as well, with wooden or slate shingle roofs.
Fine stone manors surrounded by brick walls or wrought-iron fences are the most common structure type here. Most have elaborate gardens or extensive grounds. The streets are paved with slate flagstones, with trees and decorative shrubbery in many places.
Government
Leadership
With King Dragonsbane unable (or maybe unwilling) to take his throne in Heliogabalus, many government functions have moved to Bloodstone City. While Bloodstone City isn't the official capital of Damara yet, the writing is on the wall, as they say. Some nobles are unwilling to wait, or are so tied into government functions that they are unable to remain in Heliogabalus. This, of course, frustrates Baron Ree to no end. Many of the nobles resettled in the Garden District. Initially outside the city walls, the city has now grown to accommodate them. The nobles of the Garden District have formed a "Gardens Council" to administer the district and also to present a united front for the new King.Defences
District Guard
The Gardens Council does hire a small Gardens Watch, but most noble estates have a full staff, including House Guards. The House Guards of most estates have been given orders to assist the Gardens Watch in case of emergency.Industry & Trade
Main Industries
Not as influential as the Hill District in Heliogabalus, the main industry of the Gardens is the care, functioning (and some say pampering) of the nobility. Stores here routinely open only for a select few, and if you have to ask the price, "you're in the wrong store."Guilds and Factions
