The Defense of Trunau
Today we were awakened by the townsfolks freaking out. It seemed, at first that Rodrik's had committed suicide, but something seemed off.. he was so happy the night before so went spent the day looking around town for clues, and questioned many people On the way to to Brinya's lodging we are attacked by a small pack of diseased young wolves. At night we were ambushed by some FREEDOM TOWN ASSASSINS from Free Town to the north.
We spend the day again seeking more answers in Trunau, Dayz spends the entire day questioning the assassins. Thursday night we decide to go check out the Plague House, at sunset. That sucked. Adler almost died because we scattered. He limped his way into town, only to find an army of Orcs was besieging the place. We had to be raised up by ropes and pulleys into Trunau. We spent the night doing hard battle within town rescuing many of my fellow villagers and some of the guards that used to tease me for being a cartographer.
We clear the Trading Rocks. Crusher Falls into the Hopespring. Elbow drops as he blows up a giant skeleton with himself while caught in a rage. We enter the Tomb of the King, recover ancient relics. Adler is given Brinya's Love Zaxel is given both the Hammer Agrimmosh and Uskroth's Armor
Chief Defender Halgra of the Blackened Blades approaches us with a request.
Trunau’s Council of Defenders is worried that the town’s orc troubles are far from over. To that end, Halgra asks the Heroes of Trunau to go to Grenseldek’s lair—an abandoned outpost near the River Esk called Redlake Fort—and deal with the giant chieftain and her orc tribe before they can attack Trunau again. We leave an hour after noon. we ride north upon the council's yak's along the trail for six hours, spend the night camping out.
We ride north for a full dozen miles arriving at the river docks shortly before sunset. We meet the captain and are assigned duties and then we set sail with the mornings "tide".
Everything that could go wrong did. We are not cut out to be sailors. or cooks or fishmen or even row for that matter.
We are attacked by river drakes in the morning.. and an ambush later afternoon. we chase her into the bilges but she gets away. The Huntress Melira tried to ambush us in the bilges, we were able to kill her companion Chokehold a viscous Constrictor Snake that was huge!!!!
We Rescue Lady Calrainne and decide not to follow up and go to her keep.
The Merrows Dam across the river. we come to shore and scout up the riverbank in the woods. we take them from a distance, almost die as we close in on them. then we continue onwards with the ship being towed by horses along the shore for three more days until we reach our landing.

we travel overland for two days and encounter a patrol outside of redstone fortress.
we assault the redstone fortress from the north over the wall. In the morning we made a deal with an orc general, freed umlo and slain most of the sentries on the walls and towers. Noon We breech the redstone keep. 1230 We Breach and Assault Grensledick 1235 We find a dusturbing Feast below the Keep. 1240 We go past the Cauldron and against Gutterunch Gore. 1250 We head outside and are of course ambushed by the orc general. we reclaim the fort from the orcs, recuse the body of Fabian and put his ghost to rest.
It is fairly smooth sailing on the return to trunau. The captain was grateful and promised to speak of our prowess to his cousins. we arrive mid morning on the 30th and rode the council yaks back towards trunau, stopping again at the waystation by the road. it has been rebuild and enlarged. There is even a squad of militia patrolmen staying the night. They are new all recruits since the raid. They also dont notice my uniform. It seems alot of nearby homesteads were razed also before the siege. One of them rides into town to tell the council we have returned.
We return to Trunau Victorious in our mission. A night of rest.. perhaps drinking. my half brother and sister are still safe.
We spend a couple of days in Trunau before heading out on our most dangerious expedition yet.
We set forth on food from Trunau headed to the lost tomb of the fabled silverhanded giantslayer. For six days we trudged across the lands, following where the geodes lead us. We arrived, not having seen a single soul on our travels.

we come to a cabin in the woods with a baby that a giant is trying to get from the second story. we slay the advanced troll, rescue the baby.
follow river carrying baby. come to Mining camp of shindermans fortune around noon. head north find Cyclopse Gsurak and the orgre Picknik. we end up rescuing 7 miners from shinermans bounty. return them to town.. mayors wife, grandma of the baby tells us her husband and others of the village are in the valley to the west.

We have pushed into the heart of the cave and Walled of stone off the bat chamber, discovered paintings of magical power and discovered histories long forgotten. we also fought a cave giant.
we have pushed past the cave and snuck in the back door so to speak to the giants recruitment center. we kill the butcher and alchemist outside the Forge. we kill the HIll Giant Meadery and the twin stone giant recruits. find Ettnia slag giant priestess. tells us how to relight the forge. Spend night with the giants of slag.
we exit and head back to the cave. spend night in middle of cave. zaxel walls of stone the area we are in. uses stoneshape to make small passage out for us, reshapes it shut so the painting are hidden again. the next day we head west to the river and camp where we did on the 21st. decent basecamp set up now. good fishing. we learn how to create rafts from driftwood using the magic of nature.
we head south using rafts, fight Hill Giant and Ogres in the ruins of a slag giant city. We continue south and sleep at the bend camp.
Just before midday we head into the Sunken Temple and find the Blessing. we return to the basecamp on the elbow to spend the night.

We sail north and east ending the night past the painted rocks. We rescue a second set of miners from the village north of here sleep safe. Throne and some of the others go to escort them home. returning to meet us in a few days.
We sail north then head to Aduromi's Chapel. fight fire giant, crazy plants. recover giant bag of holding, and the fire geodes. continue east and sleep.
we sail east find tracks of a patrol, see ogre spiders (size of an elephan!!) we let them be so they can keep eating giants. enter rift valley. spend night halfway into the valley.
Dog Watch. 10 fire drakes being chase by spire drake. spire kills 4 fires, they become wraiths. we kill spire/wraiths. pause to catch breath.. Fire drakes thank us and tell us 3 more spires are coming. in less then a minute. we kill spires. fires are happy/sad.
Sail southeast to Jogrothir's Rest we kill the spire drake brood mother. recover drakebane horn. and return to party with relics.
head to drakes cave so we can help their brood mother. we fight cave giants. rescue her. they promise if we deal with the big dragon they will help us to relight the forge. its an old mine.. We head north to see where Joose had flown off to, the drakes come with us. He got distracted with a yoddler in the middle of combat and flew off. He had found a Stone Giant Druid tending a grove. We spent the night and the next day with him. we learned alot.. every animal and bird could speak.

We travel for a couple of hours in the swamp, before we find the Temple that holds the magical clay that we need to line the forge with. We find a halfelf inside of cage. It seems that the giants caught him while he was trying to steal a couple of wyvern eggs. I hand him my traveler's tools so that he can try and pick the lock of the cage. He manages to a split second before Adler swings Gorums thorn into where the lock and cage was. Between Adler, Luna and Varros we managed to push open the heavy, ancient stone doors. but not before pouring a pair of oils of silence upon each door. Not that it mattered much as the light from doors shone forth inside. Illuminating four torch bearing ogre's and the evil slag giant sorceress that captured and kept the halfelf we found in the cage singing and dancing, she is performing a ritual of some sort..
We spent some time preparing to head inside and talking about magical powers and various abilities we had at our beck and call now..
Inside we fought 4 ogre recruits. 1 slag giant sorceress, 3 benoian clay statues containing worm swarms.. ..it was gross, everything exploded in bursts of puss and worm covered gore, nurgles rot infected two of us, but thankfully daemon was able to remove it.
we found five giant bags but did not poke thru them as of yet. simply tossed them into the cart that Dredok claimed as his own.
We speak with not just each other but an actual living not breathing AntiChamber! IT told us about the giants inside and the ogre. it really did not like the chamber, it had been apart of it but outside.. trapped outside of the doors for thousands of years people and stuff just moving through and never once stopping to talk to it.. it thanked us. Then we killed alot of giants in the big chamber which was a meadery. So then we drank some and moved on.
The next minute and half was.. intense. We went into the next chamber it was the former Chapter House.
The next few entries are over the next few minutes.. We reclaim the forge.. almost silently.. Then We paused a moment to talk with an Anti-Chamber.
Zaxel, Varr'os and Luna deal with a couple of ogres that were hiding in the privies.. easy peasy.. they should have surrended
We perform the Ritual to relight the forge. We are betrayed. We kill the giant that betrayed us. We are victorious. We have decided the future. We are all thrown for a loop.

The others pointed out that the elf lady was a dragon.. they were not specific as to what color of dragon she was. We took the tower... We ran into a patrol.. We prepare to scout the barracks..
We assaulted what we thought was a barracks, it was a brewery. We took a few things then rigged the whole building to explode with fuses and timers about the time we get to the western side of camp to draw everyone's attention over to the east allowing us to slip in undetected.
Daemon using magic teleports the bulk of the party back to the sylvan hideaway.

Adler takes off with his winged boots, zooming about the air above the camp letting loose with volleys of arrows wounding dozens if not scores of the giants, we are sure he slayed a few but with the chaos it is hard to tell.
We spend a full day and night and the next day resting within a few Sylvan Hideaway's and to lull the giants into a false sense of security and then head north to the mines and forge where we were ambushed in the midst of looting the place.

We finish exploring the Temple of Urgathoa, set fires within and prepare an explosion for a couple of hours from now.
We then travel north into the drake caves and do battle with them, pausing as one attempts to flee away to the south being chased by Adler.
We find the rest of the party in the drake cave.
We examine the ice wall and plan to return with a wall of fire to melt it and take the time to butcher the drakes.
We go to the Wickerman and destroy it.
We go back to the sylvan hideaway.
Zaxel made me gaseous i saw something near the temple and drifted by to scout it out. recovering a dead human from within and saw a Tomb Giant dragging the corpse of dead undead into the stone doors beyond the wickermans.. into the Tomb.

We press deeper inside the crypt. I thought i heard movement behind the door. We cautiously open it to find.. a couple of empty sleeping mats and two frost giant bags. We move down the hall to the left coming a Locked door, which was a simple matter for us to open. Inside we found a crazy scary laboratory for.. flesh-sculpting. Two huge tanks of embalming fluids. We are faced with a Tomb Giant named NEPHANDROS and the two Gluttoner's he has sculpted to defend the place. a fierce battle in which we were pretty messed up.. most of us near death at the end of the battle. After the battle was over we discovered a secret chamber containing a locked chest, we were able to dispel the magical trap via a bypass switch that was obvious to the most casual observer and unlock it.. gathering its contents we headed out of the drake cave to the new location we had picked out for the Sylvan Hideaway. We use the ring gates to sell the items we have found and purchase a few more things that will be helpful. Then we sleep for the night and the day passes.
Today a fair bit happened. First we struck into the Gristlemill and ambushed one of the frost giants, a barbarian named Margrunda but she died easy. Daemon took control of the second frost giant, who had not completed his courses yet to become a barbarian and sent him along with the slaves back to the pens, with the thought that we would be there in a couple of hours and it would help to have one of the guards inside on our side. We also found a dwarven priest a drugar.. who claimed all his equipment was within the Tannery and begged us to assist him in acquiring it. We rigged an explosion to go off in 15 minutes. So next we flew south on wings of the winds to arrive at the Tannery. Preparing an ambush for the giants inside a single frost named Lachnir, aided by two hill giants who died so quickly we didn't get their names. We found Rorot's equipment and gathered up most of the salvageable hides from the room.. after all the animals had already been slaughtered. we rigged a second explosion to go off in 10 minutes. Next we decided to go after the Chief of the camp and strike at his longhouse up north below our new hideaway location. We faced two frost giants and a cyclops, in each of the side chambers and met up with a Druidess who as going to challenge the chief by herself, she joined our group and we then did battle with the five frost giants thanes feasting with Chief Greganor. It was a hard tough battle but I ended up with 9 more frost giant beards. After the battle in his bedroom we found an old dwarf cowering under the bed, but something was off with his mannerisms. Dredoc and Zaxel both dispelled the magic upon him.. to reveal an angry red dragon who roared his outrage at us. Only Zaxel stood tall, the rest of us fled back to the feasting hall where daemon was able to transport us via a dimensional doorway to the east in the woods outside the slave pens. We take a moment to gather our breath and watch as the red tears out of the roof of the longhouse and turns back down to set the whole building on fire.. almost perfectly times the explosions go off first in the Tannery and second in the Gristlemill, lighting the camp up almost as bright as day. Quickly and silently we ambush the guards.. as we get closer we notice the slaves and giant we sent here earlier are all dead upon the ground. We gather the skull of the dead slaves to raise in a few days and head into the slave camp... We find of all people melisandra who agrees to a truce while at the camp. We arm former slaves including her.. Daemons Elven friends arrive and teleport the slaves away to freedom. We head to the Sylvan Hideaway and sleep for the night as everyone is tired and drained of magical potential.
We head back into the Tomb and face both a Flesh Golem and a Baelnorn. We faced two undead frost giants who tried to ambush us but failed. we re-re-secured the entrance. We headed into what we thought was a stable but it looked empty.. I yelled that i claimed this place for Koldukar and was promptly charged by an undead mammoth named Soulgorger behing ridden by a Huge frost giant who skewered me and almost killed me. thankfully the others had my back and were able to kill him.. as all four shots of the seed rifle were duds. Then we go to the Great Hall where we are ambushed by a DECAPITANT LORD and two undead frost giants, after the battle we were also ambushed by a frost wyrm. we followed the wyrms tunnel and created a new hideaway underground where we spent the night.
We are charged by the spirit of a great giantslayer Akargrim to kill the giant that killed him with his axe. We go north and face ANTHURIM RIMEBEARD, a devourer who tried to eat our souls.. but alas we killed him quickly and didnt get too hurt. Going thru the eastern doors we find a large cavern filled with a blizzard. Daemon works some weather magic while we go to the chamber of the peers. As we enter the chamber one of the peers (an ice encrusted giant partial frozen in place from centuries of slumber and ice encasing them) the axe of Akargrim begins to glow and turns into a Vorpal weapon. Hhurrun Springbane awakens and gasps. three others of the peers awaken and close towards us. Quickly though the room is filled with clockwork walls and a ring of fire. between combined arms fire and magical fire the undead generals die quickly. Save for the last.. Grumog has been awaiting the ring of fire to die down, it does as katana looses her concentration. Grumog charges HHurrun and with a perfectly declaired swing chops his head off the with the vorpal quality of the axe confirmed. We find a tome of Stone Golem Creation hidden behind one of the Thrones. Dredoc creates a masterpiece of painting (Natural 20+21) using Marvelous Pigments and between him and Zaxel they read the tome bringing a semblance of life to the statue that he painted to look like Adler, though he has been named Leroy. We return to the skulls and speak with Akargrim. He thanks us and uses the last of his lifeforce to grant the Axe the giant bane quality ontop of the Vorpal quality it has. At offers to raise them, the skulls all decline asking that their weapons be returned to family or next of kin and are themselves going off to become Petitioners to the Great Beyond to wherever the scales of fate decree they go. We head into the Temple of Urgotha and deal with Onephexia and her cronies. She has raised Dybellos yet again.. third time we have faced this monstrosity.. this time we burned all of the bodies and left nothing to chance. We sleep the night so that Zaxel can spend a day consecrating and hallowing the temple.. dedicating it to both Brigh and Minderhal.
We face SKIRKATLA within her throne room. Two witchfires known as the NORMUGRUU SISTERS, two Baykoks, Three Giant mohrg's We win, it is almost too easy. We spend the rest of the day making sure we have gathered everything of value from this place, we do know there is one more frost wyrm around below.. but it has not troubled us.. perhaps it is aware that we have slain the other five of the swarm and is guarding eggs. Only time will tell. We leave to discover...
We have decided to follow up and head to the Ashpeak training facility where Volstus is summoning the best of the best of all his giant forces.
We travel overland through the mountains heading southwest to the dwarven trade outpost of Glimmerhold. Negotioning with the Forgekeeper we purchase a building to use to as a Shop to sell all of our future loot and treasures at full value. We hire a Cabal of Magesmiths to work the shop, as well as a team of thugs to keep the place safe, also we build a stable and a very nice bunk house with a bath and showers. We spend a day just relaxing in town and cleaning the grime of months off us.
We travel south south east to Kraggodan where we meet with the Prince who is to be coronated in two weeks time. He agrees to allow us to open a gunsmithy within his city and to train his guards in the basics of slinging a gun. We teach them to make Pepperbox Rifles, Pistols and Double barreled shotguns. The reason for opening this shop is they have been one of the few forces to successfully repel the forces of the Hobgoblin kingdom to the East and South in former the former providence of Cheliax and we want to give the dwarves as big of an advantage as possible. They have salt pepper, guanno, magnesium, and other alchemical supplies to make into some bullets that should help. He told us that dragons of all colors had been surging towards Ashpeak over the past couple of weeks.
We head mostly East a hair north to the Volcano of Ashpeak.
