Northcastle

Description

Northcastle is a mountainous, craggy district of Redgaard. Located in the Red Keep's shadow, it was once largely unaffected by the Haze, but wandering monsters and mutants have since made the district as dangerous as any other in the Outer City.

Resources

Originally, the district was overrun with prospectors looking for delerium deposits in a "relatively safe" setting. However, the influx of roaming mutants has slowed, but not halted, these treasure-seeking expeditions.

Inhabitants

Backbreaker's gang, the "Keepers of Northcastle," operated in this district, terrorizing unsuspecting adventurers and claiming Northcastle's treasures for themselves. With all but the leader slain, it is unknown who or what will next lay claim to the district and its resources.

Locations

Literally and figuratively in the shadow of the Red Keep, Northcastle was not as opulent as some of Redgaard's other districts. Now more than ever, the wooden huts built atop hills and peaks have fallen into disrepair.

History

After the Cataclysm befell Redgaard, prospectors flocked to this district, seeing an opportunity for incredible wealth by mining delerium above the hazardous Haze. However, as monsters have dispersed throughout the entire city, these efforts have slowed over the years, with adventuring parties primarily hunting for the crystal instead. Since the formation of the Queen's Men, Backbreaker's crew operated independently in Northcastle, establishing their base in the abandoned Cavern of Oozes. Routed by Kapital's efforts, the gang has been disbanded, although their leader still lives.
