Verdant Hollow Farmstead

Description

Verdant Hollow Farmstead is an abandoned farm on the eastern edge of Redgaard, near the Drann River. It was most recently used to produce irradiated crops, until its master was forced to flee and destroy her research. The only remaining evidence of her experiments were some charred notebooks, several barrels of caustic greenish chemicals, and the mutant corpses littering the fields.

Inhabitants

The mage Ellara Thorne conducted magical and alchemical research at the farmstead and apprenticed a number of other mages in the manor.

Flora & Fauna

In addition to the haze husks that worked the fields and guarded the crops against intruders, the barn was filled with aberrant creatures, like stone hens, which were created by the mage's experiments with delerium. Finally, the fields themselves were host to hallucinogenic spores.

History

Some time after the Cataclysm befell Redgaard, the crops of Verdant Hollow Farmstead withered, died, and mutated. Eventually, the abandoned buildings were repurposed for Ellara's mysterious experiments with contamination, such as irradiated crops. The Candle Colony dispatched Sir Benito to determine the cause of the contaminants and put an end to it, be it "cultists" or "maleficents."
When Kapital passed by the farm, they assisted the knight with the dregs working the fields. While Ellara escaped to Reed Manor and ordered her homunculus to destroy her laboratory, the group were able to recover the mage's most recent notes before they burned.
