Blacksmith's Guild
Overview
The Blacksmith's Guild is one of the oldest guilds in the Atlantean group of guildhalls. It is derived directly from the work of the Dwarves and from Hephaestus. All Blacksmiths must swear an oath to the God of the Hammer and Anvil and receive ta small iron bracelet as a sign of this fealty.Guild Emblems Worn
The small bracelet is a twisted iron piece cast from a former Horseshoe - this is a sign of bending the metal sworn to be used by a horse (ruled over by Poseidon) into a protective device for Hephaestus. The bracelet is non-magical, yet has the ability to arrest all sparks that seek to hit the arm when the Blacksmith is crafting hot iron. It is of course worn on the hammer - hand of the blacksmith and does not hinder the wearing of other bracers or vambraces by the wearer. When a blacksmith first works Mithril, and then Adamant - then the bracelet is changed to those metals respectively. Some smiths actually wear one of each metal - putting the other two bracelets on the other wrist.Hephaestus Influences
The Blacksmith's Guild is therefore very much within the domain of Hephaestus, the Anvil is in fact a altar to the god, therefore every type work on the anvil is a form of empowerment of the God. As such, each blacksmith guards their anvil well and protects it more than their equipment. The Blacksmith is willing to help any Priest of Hephaestus and will often offer a discount of their services as a sign of fealty to the Priesthood.
A blacksmith is willing to hire out their forge for others with the Blacksmithing Proficiency, and can also sell Blacksmithing tools should the Character needs it.
Ordinances
A Blacksmith must NOT make horseshoes. (This is only for Farriers and Marshalls)A Blacksmith must NOT work for a Farrier or Marshall.

Guild Influences
The Guild has had a huge influence on the Atlantean system of skill development. It was one of the original first Guilds of the World and is therefore the parent of several guilds - some of which openly state that they are related to the original Blacksmithing Guild. Other's seek to differentiate themselves and are in actuality in conflict with the original Blacksmithing Guild and in some cases with the Oaths that were sworn in their training.Skills Gained from a Smith
The Blacksmith can train others in the non-weapon proficiency of Smithing. This can include the basics of Armorsmithing, Weaponsmithing, Bladesmithing, Arrowsmithing and Spur-making.
