Perithes

Perithes was the leader of the Sacred Band, a group that marched into the The Agrios Agnosto and ended up confronting the The Mountain King during his Invasion.

BACKSTORY

Perithes was born to the Diocletis family who had long controlled the city of Nevma. His father and uncle served as Strategos and Steward of Nevma respectively. Like all Diocletis, Perithes spent his youth in the The Acastus Consortium . He was exceptional during his service, being bestowed many accolades for his heroics during expeditions into the The Agrios Agnosto . When his father passed away, he took on the role of Strategos of Nevma in 1224 AC. In 1232 AC his uncle retired, and therefore he took the Steward position to represent Nevma in the Imperial Chamber; leaving his younger brother Alecusis in charge of Nevma.   It was there in the chamber in 1237 AC he heard the report of Pran, the humanlike entity from the Agrios Agnosto claiming there to be a great threat building up power. While the Chamber decided to not act on the situation; Perithes thought it best someone should investigate. He took a leave of absence from the Chamber, grabbed his Sacred Band in Nevma, Pran from Keronth, and marched into the Agrios Agnosto. Along the way he joined by Estmyra Mystbringer , Kronli Oathsworn and Alethia; Herald of Remiel .   At the climax of the Invasion, the group knew the longer the Mountain King possessed the relics, the more powerful he could become. Therefore, Perithes realized they needed to force a final confrontation on their terms to avoid being overmatched later. He devised a plan to use the last relic; The Sword of Tammurz; housed in Tyronopolis, to lure The Mountain King into a battle they could win. Perithes went to the Imperial Chamber in an effort to convince them it was necessary. He was able to gain support from the majority of the council, but the Primigetis Euclides of Athenera vetoed the plan. Perithes responded by calling for a new election. In short order, Perithes won, becoming Primigetis of the Heleninum. But as he was finalizing the plan, Euclides lead a coup in Tyronopolis. It was a failure, but during the melee, Perithes was mortally wounded. He held on to life as long as could, to see the end.   On his death bed, Perithes ensured the carrying out of the plan. On the day the battle was set to take place, he passed from this domain. His last action was pardoning Euclides.   He has since become known as of the Great Protectors of Heleninum. His burial place in Nevma has become a semi-holy site for individuals wishing to serve in the defense of Heleninum. Many Warriors, before leaving to the Agrios Agnosto, stop by the tomb of Perithes to pay respects and hopefully feel his inspiration.
