Kingdom of Dar Mund
Overview
One of the last 3 "Old Kingdoms" in Nostrea. This kingdom is the last "Dwarven Kingdom".
The current queen is "Balsinde Stoneforged" [Bal-sind]. The Stoneforged royal family is comprised strictly of just dwarfs. Any family member who marries / has a relationship with a non-dwarf is disowned and their titles and lands are taken.
Internal Politics
The dwarfs are very stubborn from the day they were born and it is no different to their queen Balsinde. She keeps her court strictly dwarven unless someone does something incredibly extraordinary to earn a position in her court or by Tragog's Beard in her inner circle. As she says:
"Why get anyone else when dwarfs are best at all we need."
Geopolitics
The Kingdom is based North-East in Nostrea, most of their lands being mountainous and hard to conquer. They have cities in the lowlands as well, for trade and farming, but they also have Inner Cities, carved into the mountains and spread underground using tunnels. The most magnificent of which being the Iron Jewel, the capital of the kingdom, located in the centre of the kingdom at the start of the Mund mountain range, being a huge commercial and mining hub as well as the cultural centre of the dwarves.
Diplomatically they have a temporary alliance with the other Old Kingdoms. They have fairly good relations with the Mišára Kingdom, them being their main trading partners. Neutral but untrusting relations with the Mechani Empire and the Derovian Meritocracy. And they have very hostile relations with the Northern Free Cities, to the point they banned trading with the NFC by law and anyone who breaks the law, will be tried for treason. The reason is because majority of the Free Cities were originally dwarven and then separated from Dar Mund, costing the kingdom a lot of resources, money AND the advantage over the other races, as now even they had access to the industrial technologies, which the dwarves had a monopoly in.
Friendly, Trade Agreements
Even though the dwarves do not agree with Mišára's ideals, they don't see them as a threat and a great trade parter for food. In exchange the dwarves usually send militias or work-force, to help the young kingdom build and improve
Temporary Alliance
Neither nation trusts the others, but they represent the old order so they cooperate.
Temporary Alliance
Neither nation likes or trusts the others, but they represent the old order so they cooperate.
Neutral
Dar Mund dislikes them a bit as they are breaking the old laws
Neutral, Cautious
The Dwarfs, see them as a potential threat, but as they are nowhere near them, do not care too much about the Empire
Hostile, Trade Ban
Due to NFC being a nation which rebelled from the dwarves, the tensions are high and dwarves are hard to forgive.
Dar Mund has a trade ban against purchasing from the NFC and anyone caught breaking it will be charged for treason.
The NFC on the other hand has no such ban, but if anyone of NFC's citizens is found to sell information to the dwarven kingdom, they are then proclaimed traitors and will be charged for treason.
