Satuo Kuremoto

Adopting parent of Enatsu Juiichi and Daisuke (Daiyamondo) Shinomura. For many years, both children used his surname in place of their own, but Dai has recently begun using the name of his birth father.
Satuo was a noble samurai, a champion of Hanzo's cause. He was elected to be the Sparrow' Clan's representative for The Jade Guardians, but he politely declined this immense honor: he said he had seen enough of death, having survived The War of 10 Shoguns, and wished to retire somewhere quiet where no one would bother him. Being a close friend of the emperor, his wish was granted, and he was given a small holding in the Kakureta Forest, where most did not know The Shinobi Corps were based. After the Night of 1000 Devils, he was asked to take care of an infant, an orphan of the terrible event. Having no children of his own, Satuo accepted the responsibility for the young boy. His name was Daisuke Shinomura, but Satuo called the boy "Daiyamondo," after the potential for strength and clarity he saw in the young man.
About 15 years later, another orphaned youth came into his charge: Enatsu Juiichi came to him after wandering into Kakureta Forest, her own village having been destroyed and her clan practically eliminated. Thankfully, those are the sort of people the Shinobi Corps are quite partial to: those with no one left in their life to speak to are much less likely to speak of the of the Corps' existence.
Though he lived a full life with no regrets, the circumstances of Satuo's death were indeed tragic: having been possessed by the blood of a powerful Oni- brought into his home by way of Dai's dark dealings with the Oni lord Kidomaru- the Heroes of Hokkai were forced to slay Satuo, his own son dealing the killing blow. His body burned away, along with his home, and all that is left of him is an empty grave in the Kakureta cemetary dedicated to him, and the two children who carry on his name.
