Monstrous Race: Centaur

With the lower body of a large horse and the upper torso and arms of a human, centaurs combine speed and strength in their powerful forms. A centaur is as big and heavy as a horse, standing about 7 feet high and weighing about 2,100 pounds. Brown dominates most of a centaur's coloring, the long hair on the top of the head, and the glossy fur of the horselike body ranging from a light tan to a deep, dark, brown. A centaurs humanlike torso has a swarthy, earthy complexion. In some isolated tribes and rare individuals, other colorings emerge, such as white, gray, or black, but these are extremely uncommon. The tribal society of the centaurs regards freedom and personal choice as the highest virtues. As long as an individual's choices do not hinder the welfare of another centaur of the tribe, these peaceful creatures leave all their decisions in the hands of the individual. The seemingly unorganized society of the centaurs is actually bound by openness and the camaraderie that more civilized cultures have long since lost.   It is unknown how the Centaur race came to exist. Some speculate that it must have been in the Second Age, Godswar or near the end. Centaur of Sailan speak the legends that they were once the noble Pegasi, who were left behind by their Celestial masters. Without their powers, their wings fell down and they adapted. Their horse cousins stayed like they were, while the centaur sought to become part of the new world, thus their bodies changed and an upper half humanoid torso appeared. Whatever their real origins are, the Centaur race existed only in the Sailan continent as rowing tribes of raiders and bandits. With the great trade routes and communication between nations in the Third Age, Kingdoms, they were able to populate other places in the world but most of the race still resides in Sailan, in the northern regions.

On Tethys

Outside of Sailan, centaurs form tribes that hunt or raid other races like human villages. They've become a problem akin to orcs or goblinoids. However, in the Sailan continent they are more cultured, forming clans lead by khans. Their fights with the servants of dragons was and is still an ongoing problem, as the centaurs raid the rice fields. After the Fourth Age, The Calamity, their race was able to take over a huge swath of land north of Sailan in the Yasei Steppes and Hoppan Glacier from the Jadeite Empire. Now, they were able to form a true nation, led by a Great Khan of Argakhan. They still raid the empire down south but are becoming more and more like a real country, trying their best to become traders and craftsmen.

First World

Centaurs of the First World lived mainly in the mountains. Their origins are unknown and speculated to happen when the giants and humans were at war.
