Surtr, by many, is described as the hotheaded god of flames. He seeks the destruction of his enemies, while at the same time creating majestic weapons of war. It is said that many of the artifacts from the
Second Age, Godswar are from his hand. Non-giants would worship him but there are fewer of them than for his brother,
Thrym, as he lost many of them after the
Fourth Age, The Calamity, when a lot of mortals sought to create machines of war and Surtr would help them achieve this. Nevertheless, he kept up his rank. Clerics of Surtr are known to be hotheaded and searching for a fight, always but many times they are wonderful smiths that take care of many things while crafting phenomenal weapons.
History
Surtr, like his brother
Thrym, were chosen as champions of their people after the
First Age, The Titan War ended. Surtr felt that his younger brother was weak and wanted to show it on every turn. He never sought his total destruction, only the respect he deserved. This rivalry would go on for millennia and with it, their followers. Surtr would always inflame the conflict, instructing his
Fire Giants to seek out the lands of the
Frost Giants, either by land or the
Undertethys. The latter allowed the Fire Giants to be a popular giants in the underground corridors, even more so than
Stone Giants. Surtr would only stop his duels if he needed to work on his war machines or if
Stronmaus needed them. During the
Fourth Age, The Calamity, Surtr lost his brother to the
Icons. Many machines of war were made that day in hopes of revenge as the god of destruction wept inside his lava-filled heart. It is said that the mortals were given these weapons against the Icons by Surtr as only the puny mortals were able to kill those creatures. Surtr would take centuries to simmer his rage and in
The Second Divergence he found hope as he saw his brother return to
Jotunnheim, however, he was different. Icey cold to his brother, only reacting to his actions. Surtr felt betrayed, disrespected, or worse, that Thrym isn't Thrym anymore. He would still try to fight his brother but his reactions were more passive, like some undead creature, and he hated each time they fought.
Dogma
Seek the mastery of craft, create the perfect weapons of war
Do not stop in your wake, as destruction will come by your hand
Bring the fires to your enemies, let them burn bright hot
Relationships with other Gods
Surtr would always fight his brother,
Thrym for the glory before
Stronmaus of the
Jotunnheim. Even after his brother returned as, maybe, some undead god of winter, he still treated him as normal but his reactions would infuriate him to no end. Surtr would also seek combat with the
Eternal Fire or
Agni'devudu for control over the flames and volcanos.
