Myconid

Profile

Myconids, sometimes referred to as "fungus folk", are humanoid fungus creatures. They are peace-loving and tend to like quiet places, which results in them making settlements where you wouldn't normally expect to find one, such as deep underground or in the branches of a giant tree.

Most Myconids do not speak in a language that other creatures would understand, but they possess the uncanny ability to form a telepathic link with other creatures in order to communicate. They release a cloud of "rapport spores", which, when inhaled, give creatures the ability to speak telepathically with the myconids for several hours.

Plot Events

"Detoxing Russet Crater"

A group of myconids was encountered at Russet Crater, living in the branches of the Pearly Kapok. At first, the party was unsure how to interact with the mushroom people, hearing them speak in their native language, which is largely unintelligible to any creature that isn't a myconid. After approaching the party and having them unwittingly inhale some rapport spores, the myconids were able to communicate with the party and tell them all the information they knew about the Russet Mold problem they were having, and about the legends of the Russet Guardian.

The myconids of the Pearly Kapok have a small little market on one of the branches where they trade goods like dirt, bugs, and some varieties of plants. They also sell small earthenware vessels, which Søren seemed rather fond of. Reportedly, the dirt available at the myconid market is of good quality, and tastes delicious.

Since obtaining a Snecretariat tee shirt from Blinky, one myconid in particular has started fashioning cloth headdresses to sell at the market. Myconids can't wear tee shirts in the same manner that most humanoids can, because their mushroom-like heads are too large to fit through the holes at the top, but the arrival of this foreign "headwear" appears to have started some kind of new fashion trend in their colony.
