Mission 3 - Detoxing Russet Crater
Mission Briefing
"Alright, team, stars have aligned with the perfect opportunity for you all today. We got a call from the Myconid colony over at Russet Crater, who live in the giant Pearly Kapok there, saying they need help dealing with some kind of sinister mold growth. Apparently its spreading from the bottom of the tree and causing their mushroom-like bodies to become extremely fatigued just by getting too close, so we're sending you lot in to investigate. Do whatever you can to clear up that mold; also, Desmo told me to make sure you get a branch from the Pearly Kapok for some project he's working on. He told me you'd already know what it is. Two objectives today, but make sure you prioritize the mold issue, am I clear? Good."

Event Recounting
The party arrived at the market branch of the Pearly Kapok colony, and sought out information about the mold and how to get rid of it. After conversing with Maia T'kee and talking with the scholars in the library nearby, the team headed down to the bottom of the Pearly Kapok, where the mold was at its thickest, in search of a so-called "Guardian". The Guardian was said to be carrying a bottle with the power to capture sunlight and harness it to destroy the mold. On the way down, the party encountered a group of vegepygmies, who were not hostile, but appeared wary of them. After reaching the bottom of the tree, the party found the Guardian, a motionless wood woad covered in mold, grabbed the bottle from his hand, and took it to the top of the tree to fill it with sunlight. At the top of the tree, Ehn O'kee assisted the party in filling the bottle, and the team immediately descended back down the tree to return the bottle to the Guardian, which woke it from its slumber. The Guardian started using the sunlight to clear the mold, which angered the vegepygmies, and they attacked. After defeating the vegepygmies with the help of the Guardian, the team finished clearing out all of the mold from the tree, and informed Maia T'kee of what they learned.Notable Continuities
- Blinky traded a Snecretariat graphic tee from Shelmont Stakes to one of the merchants for a jar of dirt, which Dee later ate half of to distract the vegepygmies.
- The Guardian incinerated one of the vegepygmies with the Solar Bottle, and then proceeded to ignore the rest of them to continue clearing the mold from the base of the tree.
- Several party members fell off the rickety stairs at the base of the tree, which was more damage than most of them took when actually fighting the vegepygmies.
- After clearing the mold, the party found three human skeletons in the hollow of the tree, which Soren decided to burn, much to Sage's dismay. As the bones cracked and splintered in the heat of the bonfire, eldritch whispers were heard by the party. Upon returning to HQ, Sage began investigating who these skeletons could have belonged to, and has since found the names of all three victims with the help of Vena. She informed their families of what had transpired to give them some closure.
