"Got a quick errand for you two to run; Desmo heard about the artifact the team found at Russet Crater and submitted a formal request for a reconnaissance mission. He wants to know more about how this bottle works--says it could come in useful to have this kind of technology in our own armory. Head on over to the Pearly Kapok and see what information you can find, and talk to Desmo on your way out to see what he needs from you."

Event Recounting

Karnon and Dumbo first went to retrieve a one-use scroll from Desmo; a spell of his own making that can gather information about magic items in the immediate vicinity and send the details back to him. The two then set off for the Pearly Kapok, arriving at the market branch. After inhaling the myconid rapport spores, they spoke with Maia T'kee and learned about the Guardian resting at the base of the tree. Dumbo and Karnon walked all the way down the staircase, where they attempted to communicate with the Guardian. They tried to convince it to give them its bottle to bring to the top of the tree where the filling mechanism is so they could use the scroll on both artifacts at once. The Guardian seemed reluctant to hand the bottle over to the pair, however, so they instead convinced it to follow them all the way up the staircase to the top of the tree. Above the canopy, they found Ehn O'kee, who was saying some kind of prayer, ignoring the two as they tried to speak with them. Karnon took it upon herself to fiddle with the Solar Bottle's filling mechanism, and managed to arrange the lenses properly to fill the bottle without the shaman's help. Ehn O'kee, after finishing their prayer, turned around and was surprised to see the Solar Bottle filling with light while the Guardian stood watching. After the bottle was full, the information sent to Desmo, and the shaman done examining the wood woad, Karnon and Dumbo took the Guardian back to its post and made their way back to HQ, where Desmo was already busy flipping through his notes.

Notable Consequences

• On the way up, Dumbo regaled the Guardian with information about monorails and their uses. It's unclear if the Guardian understood any of what he was saying.
• Upon seeing Dumbo's flagpole, Ehn O'kee grabbed it and cast some spell on it, turning it into a beautiful silvery quarterstaff shimmering with druidic magic.
• Karnon continued the tradition of knocking loudly, despite Maia T'kee having a spanish moss curtain in place of a door.
