The Outlands
The Outlands is the name commonly used to refer to the unsettled wilderness surrounding the Aurelian Empire's west, east, and southern borders. Whether it be due to dangerous creatures, punishing weather, or inhospitable terrain, the Outlands have been deemed too volatile for any Empire sanctioned expansion. The Outlands are also home to groups of nomads referred to as Outlanders, those who've abandoned the Empire to live amongst nature. It is rumored that the original Outlanders were the indigenous population of Southern Seraphix before they were forced into hiding when the Empire expanded. The Outlands are also popular with the Empire's non-human residents who flee there to escape the racism that pervades it.
Each of the Empire's territories has established outposts along its borders with the Outlands to guard against creatures and Outlanders from entering the Empire, but they are few and far between, and do little to stop those who wish to exit the Empire.

Outland Regions
Like the rest of the Empire, the Outlands are split into distinctive biomes depending on where in the Empire they are located. Each region has its own unique ecosystem and hides secrets waiting to be discovered by any adventurers brave enough to go searching.West Outlands
The West Outlands border Spatengrove and Diamondfeld and is thought to be the "tamest" region in the Outlands. The climate is cooler and the Outlanders are not overly aggressive, at times even managing to engage in trade with local outposts and settlements. The geography is characterized by dense coniferous forests said to strip away the sense of direction of even the hardiest ranger, and freezing rivers of ice-melt and slush from the Alabaster Peaks to the north. The elusive Jabberwocky is also said to nest somewhere in this region.East Outlands
Like Clovergarde , the East Outlands are primarily made up of long stretches of dark swamps and mangrove forests. The climate is muggy, humid, and prone to heavy rain, though the Steorra Mountains that run through them offer a welcome respite in the form of chill winds and the occasional sprinkling of snow, sleet, and ice. The East Outlands are said to be home to feuding families of white, silver, and moonstone dragons.South Outlands
Occupying the Southern coast of Seraphix just beneath Diamondfeld are the South Outlands. These lands are generally flatter and greener, with the occasional mountain range cropping up to the south-west. The climate is the most temperate out of the Outlands regions and is crisscrossed by thundering waterfalls and rivers. Its forests are home to all manner of wildlife, including tribes of giant-kin and centaurs.
