Maria is born in Caprosa. Sometime after reaching the age of thirty, Maria Mulkwast would meet Wlad Mulkwast. The two fall in love and he reveals to her his Vampirism and the torment he suffered under in the Pauri Empire. Over time, Maria became Wlad's soul-match and joined the Mulkwast of the Sixth Circle.
Wlad and Maria have three children; Wiktor, Ywan, and Olena. All of whom take on their father's name and join the Mulkwast of the Sixth Circle. In desperation to maintain her life and the life of their children, Wlad extends to her the curse of Vampirism, granting her and her children the same dark power.
Wlad also bestows Vampirism onto his aging brother Dymitri Mulkwast. He sees however as his brother refuses to satiate his thirst for blood and slowly decays. Horrified by what he sees, Wlad Mulkwast decides to conspire against the "Enemy in the East" who made him a Vampire to begin with. Maria Mulkwast agrees to help him.
Over the coming years, the two would travel across Vilia together, building a coven of the formidable and the talented. Eventually, the two would return to their home at Mulkwast Manor where they would raise their children.
Wlad would develop the idea of converting Mulkwast Manor for the purpose of recruiting new members for his Vampiric coven. He intends to bait mercenaries and adventurers with the promise of employment, only to test them against a gauntlet of dangers as they try to survive the corruption of Mulkwast Manor.
Maria Mulkwast would grow increasingly dissilusioned with her husband, his cause and his methods and would show much more interest in raising her children.

Unleashing their gauntlet of dangers upon another group of adventurers, Maria Mulkwast is horrified when the group band together to kill her son Wiktor Mulkwast. Seeing the peril for her remaining children, she works with Fulgur Percutien and other survivors to break down the magical barrier surrounding the manor. When this is done, she departs Mulkwast Manor with Ywan and Olena Mulkwast.
