South Sovar
"South Sovar is a land of magical forests and an odd people with supposed ties to faerie folk, who have developed a hatred for the Sovar people after years of deforestation.
Most South Sovar has been a part of the Archduchy since it gained independence in 648AP. The forested region of Himbry was conquered after the collapse of the Burbric Empire and the borders of South Sovar have changed little since then.
Long before the Burbric Empire came around, the people of this region developed their own distinct culture, which can still be seen in the cozy architecture of the settlements. The houses are build with curved roofs, and round shapes. The burbric people believed this was because of their close proximity of untamed forests and the faeries that lived within them. The people of Himbry and Omberwal were often referred to as half-elven thanks to their unconventional customs.
Over the centuries much of the land has been deforested; the old Forest Road follows the old boundaries of the forests. Much of the magic has left as a result, but the forests are still very potent. The faerie folk are protective of what remains of the forest and harbor a hatred to those that would take their homeland from them. The Archduke makes great effort to preserve these deep woodlands and the Academy of Sassarras shows a special interest in these forests, sending out expeditions to do research among the trees.
Between the Syne River and the Forest road are vast grassy fields where various animals are herded. Along the river are various small watchtowers to protect the land against the Burbric Empire."
