Lord Deremos Graham Avencia, Agent of Greed
Deremos Graham Avencia is a devil, and one of the Seven Sins. His sin is Greed.
All seven sins carry with them a weapon of some kind, bearing their symbol. The Symbol of Greed is a coin with the symbol of infinity on it. The Weapons of Greed are gold-plated brass knuckles.
Deremos's primary goal is making profit, as well as improving the quality of life for all of devilkind, and pushing it into the future. Aside from that, he maintains order in Hell.
Physical Description
Despite being rather slim, Deremos still possesses all the inhuman strength, speed and other attributes that all devils possess.
Deremos's tail, when visible, is blackish-grey, and ends in an arrowtip-like protrusion.
When visible, Deremos's horns are relatively short, gently curving outwards and upwards from the sides of his forehead.
Deremos's dominant hand is his left.
- Greed Embodiment: As the Sin of Greed, Deremos possesses the following abilities:
- Business Intuition/Mastery: Deremos has vast knowledge of economics and business management that allows him to make informed decisions on how to maximize growth and financial gain. In addition, he possesses a "business sense", a sort of intuitive feeling of which choice is the right one to make when it comes to matters of business. He is higly proficient at numeric precision, negotiation, probability computation, etc.
- Greed Empowerment: Deremos's primary food source is other people's greed, and when he feeds, he gains a temporary boost in power.
- Greed Inducement: Deremos can induce greed in people, and inhibit their better sense of judgement so that they buy any product he's selling.
- Supernatural Condition: As a devil, Deremos possesses several natural boosts:
- Supernatural Strength, Type III: Deremos has godlike strength, able to lift whole skyscrapers and destroy mountains.
- Supernatural Speed, Type II: Deremos is able to move incredibly fast, becoming invisible to the naked eye. He can outpace any form of transportation that currently exists.
- Supernatural Reflexes: Deremos can react to an attack or movement many times faster than even an elf.
- Supernatural Perception/Detection: Deremos is able to sense life force, magical signatures and heat signatures, allowing nothing to evade his notice.
- Supernatural Senses: Deremos's sense of hearing, smell, sight, and touch are greatly heightened compared to all other races.
- Transcendent Umbramancy: Deremos's magical abilities and power are on the level of a minor god.
Deremos's clothing of choice nearly at all times is a business suit of some sort. All of Deremos's suits are very expensive and well-made. Some are pinstripe, some are plain, and he even has a plaid one (he only wears it as a last resort). The only time Deremos does not wear a suit is in the comfort of his own home. There, he wears a T-shirt and sweatpants/pants/jeans/shorts.
In addition to the Weapons of Greed, Deremos keeps both a personal pistol and combat knife on him at all times, in case a con goes south.
Mental characteristics
Deremos was born into a well-known, wealthy and powerful family of devils and con artists, the Avencias. His education was done at home, a shared responsibility between his mother, father, and grandfather. His father taught him economics and business, to help secure his future. His mother taught him several languages and emotional sciences, to help him be able to manipulate a conversation to his liking and become a successful con artist. And finally, his grandfather taught him jujitsu and hand to hand combat, to defend himself whenever things didn't go the way he planned them.
His education continued all the way into high school level, and he "graduated" shortly afterward. While he was given the offer by his family to stay and help grow the Avencia empire, Deremos declined, telling them that with his newfound talent, he wanted to make his own fortune. This delighted his father, and he encouraged Deremos to give it his all. At first, Deremos didn't have much luck pulling off successful scams, but as time went on and he got more and more experience, he got better at it. He started small, gaining only a few gold coins here and there, but he saved them up bit by bit. Soon his profits grew larger, and his scams more complex. Mortals started flocking to him like moths to a flame. Time and again, he advertised products that couldn't possibly work as intended, but by the time they figured it out, Deremos was gone with their money.
After a time, he began getting renown in Hell and devils commissioned him to get rid of their junk or old possessions. And as always, Deremos was an excellent salesman. Sometimes, devils asked the opposite of Deremos; they wanted him to find something or get something for them, something specific. He happily obliged, either buying or bartering for the object in question, and he would always get it one way or another. Between selling con items and getting commissions from other devils, he was becoming rather well-off.
It wasn't long before he was able to buy things that boosted his wealth even further. Instead of having to find an object for fellow devils himself, he began setting up an information network of devils that would find it for him, shortening the process and producing better results. Then, he got help from even more devils, as well as dark elves, pixies, to make his fake products look and act more like the real thing. Deremos was then able to sell his items for an even higher price. This went on for some time, with Deremos upgrading, expanding, putting money away, and then expanding once again.
Soon he began broadening his horizons, establishing his own mega-corporation known as ASC Enterprises. He began opening casinos, bars, brothels, night clubs, arcades, and amusement parks in the human world (while making sure to hide his identity). In the process, he also established two shell companies for riskier transactions. The first was Accismus Security, which he used to enter the arms market and sell weapons to whoever would pay, as well as offering private security personnel for a fee. The second was Sanctimonious Solutions, used exclusively for selling illegal drugs. He made absolutely sure that neither of them could be traced back to ASC, so as not to harm his other businesses. Eventually he even overshadowed his own family. And he had done it all without any help from the Avencia fortune.
At some point in time, the Avencia family's business, Avencia Co., and Deremos's ASC Ent., became business partners, signing a deal that allowed both the Avencia family and Deremos to become more powerful and wealthy than ever. They were now the richest and most powerful devils in Hell. In their success, Deremos was granted the title of Sin of Greed, making him one of the Seven Sins and an Overlord of Hell, as well as making his parents' pride that much greater. And it didn't stop there. Several times he and his family worked together on an elaborate, complex con, and made ludicrous profit from it.
In fact, the only major mistake of his career happened shortly afterward. Deremos was selling fake products to humans in disguise as usual, when, in the midst of a sale, a platoon of angels attacked him. Cursing under his breath, he grabbed as many con items as he could and tried to flee, but eventually, he was caught, and pinned to the ground. An angel called Lania Belle Wohlnächst asked him why he was scamming people, and Deremos's answer was simple: to make as much money as he possibly could. This angered Lania and she took a weapon from one of her comrades, asking how Deremos could be filled with such avarice. Deremos didn't want an angel to know anything about the Avencias or his immediate family, so he responded, instead, by saying that if he didn't look out for himself, who would?
This unfortunately drove Lania into a fury, as she cussed him out and sliced him again and again. Finally, when she was all finished, she told Deremos to get out of her sight, and that he wasn't worth killing. He took the opportunity and fled. Upon his return to Hell he told his family about what had happened, and they collectively agreed that this new angel was trouble. They'd need to be more careful when performing scams in the future, and asked their information network to find out all they could about Lania.
In the meantime, Deremos was contacted by the other six Sins. Neikona, the sin of Lust. Lunette, the sin of Sloth. Selena, the sin of Envy. Vazios, the sin of Pride. Rylitus, the sin of Wrath. And Aelera, the sin of Gluttony. Deremos promised them the full support of the Avencia family, and after they heard about his incident with Lania, they were even more determined to complete their mission: to work together, and crush the Seven Virtues, once and for all.
Deremos was educated to a high school level in his own home, and is trained in hand to hand combat.
Deremos is employed as the Sin of Greed, and as an Overlord in Hell's army.
Besides being a successful con artist/tycoon and becoming very wealthy, Deremos's two major achievements are becoming the Sin of Greed and becoming an Overlord of Hell.
Musical, verbal-linguistic, logical-mathematical, interpersonal
Deremos will try to cheat everyone who isn't his ally out of their money at any given time, be it through persuasion, gambling, or con artistry. He believes that if someone is stupid enough to fall for his tricks, they didn't deserve the money they had in the first place. He takes great pleasure in not just gaining assets but the act of conning itself; he feels rather proud of himself whenever pulling off a particularly complex scheme. Outside of monetary value, he has little use for people who aren't residents of Hell.
Like most devils, Deremos wants little to nothing to do with angels.
Personality Characteristics
Deremos's first and foremost goal is to make as much money as possible. His secondary goal is to buy assets that aid him in making even more money, or buying things that are the best in their class. (An example would be a computer/computer parts: Deremos would buy the best possible computer/parts that exists and/or is available to him.) Finally, he wishes to make Hell as prosperous and developed as it can be. Deremos has poured immense amounts of money into science, research, medical fields, education and technology, and will continue to do so for who knows how long.
Deremos's greatest strength comes not only from his ability to make people greedy, but to make them truly believe they've gotten what they paid for. His smooth-talking and bartering knows no limit, and it's often said by other devils that Deremos could convince an angel to sin, given enough time. Subtlety is another skill of Deremos's, and he can manipulate any conversation to his liking merely from the tone of his voice. As for ineptitudes, Deremos has a hard time getting people to trust him, since his reputation precedes him. It takes him more effort than most to make friends that he can rely on.
Likes: Money, conning people, coming up with new ideas to make money
Dislikes: Beggars, poor people, wasting time/having his time wasted by others, angels
If Deremos senses he can make a significant profit, his patience with a victim is nearly boundless. He will never lose his temper or get bored with someone who he can cheat. Additionally, despite everything else, Deremos is completely loyal to Hell, and will never betray a fellow devil, or their demons/imps. If there's something that can benefit all of devilkind, then Deremos would stop at nothing to get his hands on it.
Deremos has a hard time maintaining his composure when he believes his time is being wasted. He is, naturally, greedy, and will try to get as much as he can from people. He often ends up in trouble whenever his cons go poorly. Luckily, (or unluckily) he never stops improving.
Deremos always has at least one gold coin on hand, and flips it with his thumb whenever he's nervous or deep in thought.
Deremos always maintains near-perfect hygiene.
Social
Deremos, being one of the Seven Sins, is comrades with Lunette, Aelera, Vazios, Neikona, Selena, and Rylitus. He is the foil of Lania, the Virtue of Charity, and an enemy to the other Seven Virtues. The God of Darkness, Erebos, is his estranged biological father.
Deremos likes to keep in touch with his family on a regular basis. He's on good terms with them, and knows he can depend on them if he ever gets in trouble. They're also his primary partners in business. Although Erebos, the God of Darkness, is his true biological father, they are estranged from one another.
Like all devils, Deremos believes in the God of Darkness. However, he does not actively worship the god.
Deremos is confident in any given conversation. He keeps good posture and speaks eloquently. Due to his reputation in Hell, it takes a while for other devils to trust him, but Deremos takes it in stride and treats it as a challenge rather than an obstacle.
Deremos has two hellhounds, named Midas and Argus. Midas wears a gold collar, and Argus wears a silver collar (naturally.)
Deremos's voice is somewhat deep, and there's usually a hint of persuasion in his voice at any given time.

Towards Mestis, God of Luck
History
At an unknown time after he became the Sin of Greed, Deremos attracted Mestis's attention, and struck a deal with him. The details of this agreement are unknown, and Deremos gains a notable scowl when discussing Mestis to anyone. However, it can be assumed that Mestis has had some part in Deremos's ventures and his fortune.
Relationship Reasoning
Deremos seems to need Mestis in some capacity in order to grow and maintain his businesses and corporations.

History
Selena and Deremos became "allies" when Selena joined the Seven Sins. Selena is envious of Deremos's vast wealth, and while Deremos does sometimes enjoy bragging about it to her, he mainly gets sick of listening to Selena complain and insult him.
The full extent of Deremos's wealth is simply unknowable. However, his company has a hand in most, if not every, available market. From brothels and bars, to amusement parks and entertainment centers, ASC spans the globe and beyond.
