Mount Govu
Mountain located on plenty's satellite. Home of Plenty's second earth source crystal, located at its heart, as well as its mysterious source dragon.
Druids of the circle call the mountain home, and treat it like a holy site, allowing few non-druids to make pilgrimage to the crystal every year.
Mount Govu is the island of Plenty one and only mountain. The mountain stands on the island's satellite, and is roughly 15 000 meters tall at it's highest peak. It is located on the the south westerly side of the Lake of Gifts, and is a few hours walk away from the city of Goodplace.
The mountain is an outcropping of brown stone covered in patches of green grass. Govu has an almost gentle silhouette, and indeed, even at it's peak is only mildly pointed. The only exception are the occasional crevices hidden between the mountain's slopes, in which one might find dark tunnels that lead into its heart.
There is a pathway that comes from Goodplace, and then spits into three paths that cross the island's side. The three paths are: the serpent's path, the druids path, and a third unnamed path that leads away from the mountain and around the Lake of Gifts.
The druid's path leads to the mountain's east side is a small forest grove that is inhabited by a number of druids from The Circle. These druids guard a passageway that leads to one of Plenty's three Source Crystals, this one being one of its two earth attuned crystals. The druids rarely let any non-druid enter the space, but those who have earned the friendship of The Circle can come and go as they please.
The druids maintain a friendly relation with Slumbering Zolga, the Source Dragon who guards the Crystal. In exchange for their help protecting the Crystals, Zolga occasionally allows the druids to share his dreams telepathically. Despite his narcolepsy, the dragon is very wise, and is said to be able to see everything on the island, and has great insights into the nature of elemental stone.
The serpent's path appropriately coils around the mountain, ending at its peak. Standing at the top of the mountain is a single white birch tree with several burn marks which are the result of lighting striking it over the years. Miraculously, the tree still stands and appears to be completely health. Local legend says that if you sit under the tree during a storm, and lighting strikes it, you will magically receive the answer to any question. The druids of the mountain, however, refute this myth, and strongly discourage anyone from climbing the mountain in the middle of a storm.
Between the mountain and the Lake of Gifts is a small forest known locally as the forest of toes. The forest is the home of a hag named Nana Strawberries, so called or the large strawberry shaped moles that grow across her horrible. The name of the forest is disturbingly literal, as Nana Strawberries literally hangs severed toes from the branches of her forest for reasons only known to her.
The Circle allows the hag to inhabit this portion of the forest as a deterrent to those who would attempt to illegally harvest the trees. The druids are careful to provide ample warning to the locals, as well as any unaware travelers moving toward the forest. However, the allure of a seemingly unguarded section of wood is far too tempting for wood pirates, or the occasional greedy merchant looking to make a few quick Slivers, and so, Nana Strawberries always has a fresh supply of toes.
Some foolish souls occasionally seek out Nana Strawberries intentionally, lured by tales of dark bargains for secret knowledge or ancient power. Whether the hag is actually willing to make such trades is unclear, but every once and awhile, a person who left Goodplace seeking the hag stumbles back into town, pale as a sheet and jabbering about scarecrows.
A lesser known fact about Mount Govu is that hidden within the mountain is a series of underground ruins that date back to the time of the Precursor Race. The architecture resembles the ruins found in The Deadlands. The druids patrol the mountain, sealing the various passages that lead into the ruins, but mysteriously, new ones seem to open occasionally, or previously barred paths seem to magically open.
The druids claim that the reason why they prevent entry into the mountain is for safety reasons, or for fear of bandits or pirates finding their way into the tunnels and using them as a staging ground to threaten the rest of the island. Others suggest that the druids are actually hiding something, some dark secret of the old world that they would rather not see the light of day.
