Plenty
The island of Plenty is the largest landmass in the Fractured Skies and is the breadbasket for many islands unable to produce the food needed to support their populations. It is a green island, covered in rolling meadows, dense woodland, and glistening freshwater lakes. The island is crisscrossed by cobblestone roads which connect each settlement to the island together. There are three cities built around the three Source Crystals which suspend the island, as well as a number of smaller hamlets, and individual farms.
Plenty is one of the three founding members of The Pact, and as such is largely credited with the continued survival of the three islands from an agricultural standpoint.
Plenty is one of the originally settled islands and its people took to their new life in the sky quickly, adapting and mastering the elemental energy of their Source Crystals to help produce an abundance of food using druidic magic. There are three Source Crystals on Plenty, two earth crystals and one water crystal.
The island of Plenty is also the origin of the Greenborn, who view the land as a sacred home. Any Greenborn, even those born and raised off of the island of Plenty, can find a warm welcome in any of its cities, towns, or hamlets. Even non-Greenborn are generally treated with respect, although a few harbor ill sentiment towards fire attuned individuals.
There are three main cities on Plenty, Firston, Goodplace, Bran City. The cities are run by The Stewardship of Plenty, while The Circle maintain the natural spaces of Plenty and assist the farmers in the fields.
Thanks to the hard work of The Circle and mutual defense pact made by the The Stewardship of Plenty during the signing of The Pact, the island is likely the most peaceful place among the Fractured Skies. Citizens routinely travel between the settlements of Plenty without fear, and those settlements are mostly free of crime and violence.
The population of Plenty is made up of humans, firbolgs, the occasional earth genasi, and the very rare water genasi. Most inhabitants of Plenty are earth attuned, although a few are water attuned. In the port of Bran City there are small populations of immigrants from other islands who can have any attunement or be of any race.
Plenty has three Source Crystals, two earth crystals and one water.
The people of Plenty call The Earth Titan and The Water Titan Rola the Father and Vishska the Mother. respectively. Most regard them as benevolent deities and leave offerings of food on small public shrines. While these shrines are dedicated to the gods, anyone may eat of the offering, representing the giving nature of the Father and the Mother. The two are often depicted as two young people coiled around each other in a lovers embrace.
Geography
The island of Plenty is covered in fields, forests, and wide open planes. The main island is connected to its satellite by a massive stone aquifer which joins the two lakes on the island. Plenty is in a eternal season of spring, and the plants of the island are forever prosperous and verdant. The waters are clean, clear, and blue as the sky.
The island itself is slightly sloped to the east, which allows several small rivers to run across the land. Wide cobblestone connect every settlement, homestead, and cottage on the island.
Fauna & Flora
Plenty is covered in maple trees, green grass, and ankle tall foliage. Large portions of the island are covered in fields of wheat and barley. Patches of wild flowers brightly bloom in hidden groves, and moss covers nearly every stone that hasn't moved in more than a few days.
There are only small mammals on Plenty, such as foxes, filed mice, and raccoons. All manner of birds nest on the island year round, and fill the forests with endless song. Small populations of fish, frogs, and axolotls inhabit the lakes and streams of Plenty, too small to be a reliable food source for the people of Plenty.
The lands of Plenty, while generally peaceful, occasionally deal with the odd elemental causing havoc. Larger creatures of elemental earth are generally the most destructive, as they unwittingly tear through fields of crops with little regard to the damage they leave in their wake. Smaller elemental creatures of earth and water occasionally harass those who frequent the shores of Plenty's lakes and rivers. On rare occasion, powerful elemental water beings manifest in bodies of water and attack unsuspecting fishermen and swimmers. The most common pest on the island, however, are the invasive Sky Serpents who attack both animal and traveler alike on the island's edge. While most on the island abhor harming any animal, a special exception is made for these creatures, as The Circle believes that their presence could upset the balance of Plenty's ecosystem. As such, when a Sky Serpent is encountered, it is swiftly driven off or killed, and a through check is done to discover and destroy any possible nests.
Natural Resources
Plenty produces a variety of resources that form the backbone of many important industries across the Fractured Skies. Fruits, vegetables, and all forms of produce are constantly being produced by the many farms across the island. Chickens are the only domesticated species, and are only farmed for their eggs. No meat is produced on Plenty, and as such the majority of inhabitants are vegetarians. Plant fibers, such as cotton an hemp are produced in large quantities on the island, and Great Silk Worms are non-lethally farmed for their silk.
A slow but steady supply of maple wood is produced on the island for the construction of buildings and sky ships. The Circle maintains the forests of Plenty, and permit no logging on the island. How the druid provides the wood without harming the forest is a mystery, but The Stewardship of Plenty is happy to let them keep their secret so long as the wood keeps flowing.
The Stewardship of Plenty shave enough chunks off of the island Source Crystals to construct a few water powered Sky Ships a year, as well as dozens of Land Riders.
The people of Plenty live without fear of hunger or the threat of homelessness. Both the abundance of food and the tireless work of The Circle have given the people of Plenty have no reason to take from each other, no reason to fight over space, and allowed them to grow a unique and empathetic culture. Food and shelter are freely given, and all manual labor is done by volunteer workers and passionate craftspeople. Some call Plenty a titan-given paradise, but most of the men and women who live on the rock will agree that what they have was earned with hard work, compassion, and just a touch of luck.
