Goodplace
Goodplace is a small community located on the island of Plenty's south west satellite. The town is surrounded by several large wheat fields, and a series of windmills stand at the communities eastern side. The town itself is made up of a few hundred houses and buildings spread out over a series of small hills. The houses are brightly painted and made from wood and clay. The spaces not dominated by personal gardens and fruit baring trees are taken up by gentle fields of well trimmed grass. The roads that run through the city are dirt, but are maintained excellently by a local volunteer group. A number of pubs, bakeries, and cafes exist within the community, filling the clean air of the town with the sound of revelry and the smell of freshly baked goods. Overall Goodplace gives the impression of a charming country village.
The people of Goodplace are charming, endlessly hospitable, and perhaps a bit to open. The Greenborn philosophy of treating others as if they were family is perhaps taken to its extreme by Goodplace's inhabitance, who consider everyone who is not directly related to them as distant cousins. Many a traveler has been taken aback as they arrived in the local tavern, only to be cheered by a group of people they never met, and invited to dinner at a dozen different households at once. New arrivals in town are often treated as a major event, and are often subjected to a tsunami of polite curiosity, complements, and, gifts of baked goods, produce, and flowers. There are no inns in Goodplace, and instead, travelers are welcome to spend the night in any home that would have them. Many houses are built with guest bedrooms in mind for such situations.
This aggressive friendliness can be intimidating to some outsiders, and to accommodate those who don't feel comfortable with spending the night in a stranger's home, several parks are designated as open camping zones for those who require them.
Another area where guests are often initially uncomfortable are their first interactions with the small portion of Goodplace's population that practices naturalism during the summer months. These residents have nothing approaching shame, and the larger community has become so used to them that their activities are rarely ever commented on beyond a polite acknowledgement or the occasional complement.
Demographics
The population of Goodplace is made up mainly of Greenborn Sapie and Gentle Ones. However, individuals of different ethnicities also live in the town, having fallen in love with the charming atmosphere and friendly people.
Government
The organization of the town is overseen by the mayor, an elected official who is a member of The Stewardship of Plenty. Due to the smaller size of the town, the mayor serves as the totality of the city government. The mayor's job is to oversee any projects within the community, assembling teams of volunteer labors, and plan for various annual festivals.
The current mayor is Nilshe Silverwing, an Akoran who moved to town 20 years ago. Adopted by the town, they succeeded the previous mayor, who had taken them on as an apprentice. Nilshe fell in love with Goodplace, and its people, and does everything in their power to keep the daily operation of the town running smoothly.
Natural Resources
Goodplace mainly produces wheat, and indeed, produces a fair chunk of the total wheat population of Plenty. The wheat is processed into flower or other products in the town, and then those products are shipped out via ox-drawn cart or Land Rider to Firston.
