T2 - Hunt the Huntsman

Episode One

  While the party is traveling Telo's Wolf Pet will begin to smell some evil. The scent trail is clearly being masked and they are lead to a campsight that has been very recently abandoned. Tracks lead away, but ultimately lead to a false trail.  

Episode Two


The party will search until night fall when they are ultimately find a band Dog of War known as the 'Greybacks' that are lead by a young man named Zeldris was the same member who cursed the town of Raven's Ford during the Festival of Lights. When he did so he was acting as the 'Aspect of Egil the Bold'   The warband is about to go on the hunt to kill a danagerous foe, and is in the middle of performing the Dance of the Wolf Brother ritual. This involves drinking the koryo, dancing the war dance, and telling stories of their ancestories.   When the party arrives they will be singing a song of the Legend of Windrunner who is a legendary hero from their war band.

Let's defeat them with the wisdom of Windrunner
  If asked Godo will explain that Windrunner, like all great heroes faced a bad end. When pressed he will explain that he put down the wolf skin and became Tannibore Egilson.   Zeldris is full of contempt for Tannibore Egilson because he has failed to follow the old ways. He is a pack leader who when hunters come to murder the pack, he hides in his den, and send the cubs out to die. This not how it should be. Old ones should raise the young ones in the right way not send them out to slaughter.   Raven's Ford is under direct threat. There have been attacks in local farms, attacks at The Scarlet Temple, and N'jal Odger directly tried to assassinate Tannibore Egilson despite this threat the old man does nothing and begs for peace. As long as the people of Raven's Ford fail to follow the old ways and ignore these threats they are cursed.LOL.   The Dogs of War will give Telos the Bracers of the War Dancer. saying, "If you want victory in battle carve the Victory Rune on your hilt, and a few on the the blade, carve two more runes into into your wrist guards, and speak the name of the Wolf Brother twice before you enter the War Dance. If you do this you'll never be defeated."  

Episode Three

  After learning the reason why the Dog of War cursed Raven's Ford they will have the opertunity to Hunt the Huntsman. Like the party, the Huntsman is a very skilled man of the woods who will have difficult DCs to track and ambush. As the party attempts to find him he will also track and hunt them. If the Huntsman beats the DCs he will ambush the party. Otherwise the party will ambush him.

Structure

Conflict

Roll d6 to Determine hunting event. Events are passed with a (DC 20).   1) The party arrives at a river with rapidly flowing water making it difficult to cross. It is covered by a log bridge.
  • Positive Outcome - The party finds the trap and realizes the Huntsman uses the water to mask his scent.
  • Negative Outcome - The party takes 2d10 damage trap damage.
2) A flock of Ravens swarm the party.
  • Positive Outcome - The party is able avoid the Ravens and they do not report their location to the Huntsman
  • Negative Outcome - The party takes 2d10 damage from the Raven attack and have their position reported to the Huntsman
3) The scent trail leads to apiary.
  • Positive Outcome - The party is able to gather hunt that can be used to make a fresh batch of koyro.
  • Negative Outcome - The party is stung by bees does not get the koyro.
4) The party finds a set of foot prints which appears to be that they have found the lost trail
  • Positive Outcome - The party has a good feeling they are on the correct path.
  • Negative Outcome - The party gets sniped by the Huntsman for 2d10 damage.
5) The party finds a wolf den with cubs.
  • Positive Outcome - The wolves help the party track the Huntsman.
  • Negative Outcome - The wolves attack for 2d10.
6) The party arrives in a clearing.
  • Position Outcome - The safely gather poisonous mushrooms.
  • Negative Outcome - The party takes 2d10 poison damage.

Encounters

The party will face the Huntsman as well as several harpies and ravens. When the Huntsman has less than 50% HP he'll wildshape into a winged beast.   On the Huntsman body the party will find a note and with a piece of torn fabric. It reads:
