Folred Petris (FOL-red Peh-TREESE)
Hand
Folred Petris is one of the Earthborn Star of Iyr, specifically the Hand. Aside from Joharice Mevera, she is the newest member of the Star. She is unusual in that she is something of a 'stand-in' monarch, being a Master Shepherd of Leaving as well.
Her wife Boka, the former Hand (who in turn briefly took over when Jonna Biqare relinquished the position to lead the Fiir), was assassinated early on in the war and Folred then took her place temporarily. Folred distinguished herself during the War of the Six when, as one of Pel-dohest's Master Shepherds, she helped coordinate significant relief efforts following the release of the Plague of the Bitter Hand. She then helped draft the Inebi Treaty and the subsequent Inebi Armistice in Boka's stead, and held great authority in that capacity due to her position as a Shepherd.
However, now that the war is over, there are divided opinions on her suitability for the post and doubt over her objectivity as a Shepherd, who are meant to be exempt from politics. Some cynically maintain that the problem will soon take care of itself, as Folred contracted the Bitter Hand late and is currently suffering its third-stage effects.
