Hand

The Hand is one of the conferred titles of the Earthborn Star of Iyr; the elected recipient is addressed by this specific title where possible. The current Hand is Folred Petris, though she is unusual in that she is something of a 'stand-in' monarch, being a Master Shepherd of Leaving as well -- she took over from her wife Boka, who was assassinated early in the War of the Six and was in turn the successor of Jonna Biqare.
Saqcolo Citadel in the north of the Dohest Valley is the castle and associated grounds given to the Hand.

Qualifications

A prominent and reputable career in a particular field that significantly contributes to the wellbeing of the Iyran people.

Duties

Cooperative government with the other Earthborn Star via active duties in their own field and familiarity with that of others.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

Abdication is permissible; otherwise, the only way a title can pass is through death of the current holder. An unsuitable leader may be pressured into abdication or outright assassinated, but mere deposition is not enough.

Notable Holders

Jonna Biqare, who abdicated prior to the War of the Six in order to lead the Fiir of the Golden Itoqir.
