The Temple of Selûne
In the increasingly busy streets of Daring Heights, there are a few small scattered shrines to different deities, raised by local residents to ask for protection or success in this strange new land. For those looking for more structured places of worship in town, there are only two actual temples (so far). The Temple of Waukeen sits by the Town Hall, given pride of place on the hilltop as an offering to Waukeen by Viscount Willum Daffles when the town was founded beseeching prosperity and security. On another street, still in the general centre of town but closer to The Gilded Mirror sits a second temple, smaller and less ostentatious by design but offering a quiet place of reflection for those who seek it, dedicated to Selûne, the Goddess of the Moon.
The temple is constructed of simple stone (Sunset Stone, for the geologically curious), and the inside walls are mostly painted shades of white and silver to give the entire inside a plain but peaceful atmosphere. Walking in the main door leads to a rounded atrium continuing into a short hall with a few benches sitting before a plain altar of white stone. When the temple is not conducting more formal services this altar is often covered in scrolls and divine implements. The only priest of the temple is Rholor Vuzehk, one of the longest-tenured adventurers in the city who goes by the title of High Diviner, his portents and scrying being the stuff of legend in the city and a rival to Aurelia's mastery of transportation magic. A deeply learned scholar, for most adventurers Rholor is the real attraction of the temple - the chance to ask questions of an expert sage and perhaps glean some insights into the (hopefully profitable) future. Often they will ignore the temple and its acolytes completely and walk on through past the altar to the back rooms where Rholor resides.
For most citizens of the town though, the Temple of Selûne is a place of tranquility, where those in need of spiritual guidance come for silent prayer and meditation. The acolytes, like Melissa, are all happy to assist visitors however they need, even if it is to simply be left alone. A number of life decisions have been reached by people in Daring Heights sitting on those benches in the temple, staring at the iconography of the moon and listening for the guidance of the Moon Goddess.
Thanks to Nuno (playing Rholor) for the creation and design of this temple
