Kuan-Ti Ironborn
Once the frontrunner of the Dremoran technological revolution, the spurned genius of the Iron Mesa, and the High Lord of Nacheevi, Ironborn is now nothing more than Legacy's background technician. Or, at least, he insists that he is nothing more. Free of the political spotlight, Ironborn has embraced a more simple role having abandoned his finer robes in favor of a simple shirt, a work belt, and a heavy leather apron better suited for the forge than for the Council table. The only aspect of his appearance he seems to take particular pride in is his silver beard (it would be a crime, as a dwarf, if he did not). Despite a desire for the periphery, Ironborn's entrance is almost always noted. The sound of gears and the hiss of escaping steam accompanies his every step. His leg was lost nearly a decade ago and, although Ironborn remained unperturbed by such a loss, those in his employ now watch him like a hawk.
Ironborn spends most of his time either in his workshop, in the Lord's Quarters, or moving about Legacy performing necessary duties as a technician. In his old age, Ironborn has remained surprisingly spry and mobile, but his attitude is sour and grumpy. In his age, Ironborn truly desires to embrace his potential as a reclusive genius... with the emphasis on the reclusive part. All praise and chirping should go to Dunebrook and Khalil... he insists as he stands amidst the mechanical monstrosity he built and as his train escorts the Void Maiden into the miasma. Ironborn is somehow dwarfed by his own accomplishments and it has left him tired, worn down, and lonely. Is it not enough? Was any of it enough? Was it worth it?
Construct Guards
Ironborn maintains two construct guards, affectionately named Tipsy Smiles and Mer-Butt. The names and graffiti on their shells doesn't quite match with Ironborn's sour disposition, but he never treats their names as a joke and he is adamant on keeping their graffiti in pristine condition. Although a technological wonder, they are simple "creatures", prone to misinterpreting their orders.
Relationships
History
Rune has stood by Ironborn's side since the beginning. When the Iron families turned their back on Kuan-Ti, Rune remained, ever loyal and supportive. Now, in Ironborn's old age, their relationship visibly manifests as Rune nagging Ironborn, who grumbles and dismisses his old friends concerns. Deep down, Ironborn inspires Rune and Rune is the reason Ironborn continues on.
But my lord insists on making his bed in an old, gaudy mausoleum, hosting only ghosts for dismal company... Tis a pity his genius will die with him. – Rune
